Same. Streaming is like a double jeopardy for an artist because not only is their current material so reliant on it, the back catalog also benefits from it significantly on the long run.

does anyone else feel like katy might be going down the christina route? or maybe the britney route?

i like katy so i don't intend any shade at all but i do wonder what her chances are at getting another hit are as she gets older. i know she's still young but ageism is still the tea in pop music and i don't think i can see her having what gaga has at all (roots in the movie industry, solidified place in music history, critical praise) to help her rebrand unless she gets another solid hit

she still has some YT and spotify power but it wasn't enough to outdo Joanne even with a tour bundle  if she doesn't get a hit, i can see her continuing to be a judge on tv shows like american idol like britney did, her albums slowly declining and hopefully a vegas show to keep her paychecks coming

Honestly the industry is so streaming heavy right now it depends on the upcoming months how many more changes happen and if the music trend changes. She can still pull in streams so that’s a plus for her but if her material doesn’t click, it could still be a net loss. I hope she survives her decline but I also can’t see her really ever going big again.
