Can Gaga really return to „the old Gaga“ ?

Hello Guys,

So I made a point in the thread „Can Gaga afford to make another non-pop album?“. My awnser was if she can  afford to make another Pop album and return to „Gaga“ from the past? It really is something I think about almost every day and finally wanted to make a thread about it (and I really hope I am wrong tbh).

With Joanne Gaga showed a side wich she didn’t show before. The GP would call it „her real side“. I see it more as „an other side“ of her but well, the GP is kind of close minded . My point is. Would people believe Gaga if she returns to „the Gaga“ she was before? I honestly could see many critics that it’s fake and played and not real. 

I could see a „modern Gaga“ with some of the looks she gave us in New York. Classy but Gaga. Idk if you see what i mean. I feel like the music in the next album will be very different from what we know before.

But for me there is one thing sure. She can not come back to „the old Gaga“. People (The GP) would not believe her, would say she is acting. Many of them think that JoanneGa is the only realGa.

I hope you got my point  And I am intrested in your opinions!

Hun outside of the US people don't ever know Joanne Gaga, or at least they don't associate her with that image

Even if you are right (but I honestly don’t agree, at least for what I know she has that image now in Germany, England and Switzerland, don’t know for the other country’s though) the US is a HUGE part of Gaga’s audience. If the US GP is destroying her for going back to te old Gaga I am scared that this could REALLY impact Gaga’s career world wide

I think a lot of the media wants that "old" Gaga back. They alredy know she can REALLY sing. All she needs is a great and catchy song that can become a hit!

ARTPOP was supposed to be a celebration but I think even her can admit she was being a little pretentious about the music. She got caught up with all the fame, success and acclaim. It all blew up in her face. She did the right thing in stepping down from that place and reminding the general public she's talented. Cheek To Cheek and Joanne helped her achieve that. Now she can be extra again. It's still part of who she is. Look at all these looks she's been serving the past days. She looks completely comfortable with them. It doesn't look forced at all and I'm willing to bet the same thing will happen with the music.

The GP can be so hypocritical sometimes honestly, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. First they say she's "too weird or eccentric," then when Cheek to Cheek and Joanne come out, they say "Where's the 'crazy Lady Gaga' we knew and loved?!"

Can she return to "the old Gaga?" Absolutely. It's not like that side of her was fake and/or vanished. She's shown to us that she can still be over-the-top and eccentric like she used to be (i.e. Coachella, Super Bowl, JWT, etc.). It's really just a matter of what she wants to do, really.

I also don't think the GP would think she's "faking it." They'd probably embrace it more since now they've seen a more candid side of Gaga. Plus, it was songs like "Just Dance," "Poker Face," and "Bad Romance," which were all eclectic in their own way that made her popular in the first place.

I just can’t imagine the GP reacting good to another Meet Dress or coming in an Egg to the Grammy red carpet.

Well maybe not THAT crazy but she can return to some high fashion. I would love more "shocking" moments though. Not only on outfits, but I miss them a lot on her performances!

Completly agree with those points. And also the point that they love her NY styles. But as I said, I see the NY styles more as „ClassyGa“. I just can not see the GP believe her with The Fame or ARTPOP looks (Maybe BTW through). But I have all my hopes and hope the univers prove me wrong

Oh I agree with that. I was speaking of this exactly „THAT crazy“ tough. And same, I would LIVE for a „shocking“ moment
