CommonWhiteGirl 1,039 Posted May 31, 2018 Share Posted May 31, 2018 Andrew Lincoln, who plays the lead role of Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead, is leaving the franchise in the upcoming ninth season. This comes with additional news that his compatriot Norman Reedus is not leaving, thanks to a new $20M contract. Many are now saying that the series should die with Rick's departure and the show's rating have been on a steady decline the past couple of seasons anyway. Personally, I think the series is going to have to end really soon because the only original cast members left are Norman and Melissa (who play Daryl and Carol) and many of the other major characters are starting to move on to other projects as well. Lauren Cohan’s Maggie is practically off the show already, securing a deal that includes part of season 9, but she’s literally cast as a lead in an ABC pilot that just got picked up for a full series, meaning she is without question, gone soon. Danai Gurira’s Michonne feels like an obvious candidate to lead the show in Rick’s absence, which could happen, but after Black Panther, it seems like she is destined for bigger and better things. Lennie James was the best actor on the show as Morgan until he left for Fear the Walking Dead, and he’s not coming back any time soon. Also, rumors are now circulating that Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan, could be a potential replacement for Rick. What do you guys think? Should they start to wrap things up and end the series to focus more on Fear The Walking Dead, or should they keep pushing this show for a couple more seasons? Also, this show have been turning for the worst, all these cliffhangers for the sake of it ruins the show. Many audience left after they killed Glenn and then last season were practically unwatchable, many fans complains about it and stop watching altogether. After he passed last May, I wasn't sure if I was going to watch season 8 because of him and because we both agreed it was starting to get boring. I heard that Andrew wants more time with his family but no one knows for sure what's going on.
