It was written in late 2010 for Born This Way. I remember DJWS said Gaga emailed him about collaborating, he sent her a beat (BM’s) and she worked a song into it. This means that BM was made like much of ARTPOP with a beat first and then everything grew out of it which, frankly, you can tell because the melody of BM follows the beat *so* well whereas other songs of hers written at piano don’t do the same thing. Usually her productions just heighten and highlight the melodies she writes, but when she does the ARTPOP style of writing music it all kind of melds together sonically. So I agree with you. That rumor is false; however, I do think she was ruminating with the concept earlier than much of Born This Way judging by the lyric “I’ll tell them my religion’s you.” It appears nowhere else on the album oddly enough about religion yet appears all over Teeth on TFM. So I think she must have at least been thinking about the song earlier or she wrote it earlier than most of the album.
GagaUnderYou 4,995
Bloody Mary was a title floating around on a fake tracklist for TFM. It is a coincidence that Gaga ended up writing a song with the same title a few years later. Also, NOBTR was revised and intended for ARTPOP but that changed. I'm sure she considers her older work but only feels to use and put out with what she currently resonates with. She is also an artist who writes constantly so it's not like she's running out of ideas for songs that she needs to revisit older ideas. Also there is a rumour that the tracks on ASIB were written during the Joanne sessions, even The Cure was a cut for ASIB. Many who have seen the film say Heal Me sounds like The Cure's twin. Bradley 59,323
I would love it if she included some tracks on her new album honestly, as long as it is of top-notch quality. Because only the best deserve to be included on the album.

I would definitely say she was in the Joanne headspace when writing ASIB (having seen it). The only notable difference is that the more folk rock tracks that have some Joanne vibes to them go a little further into folk rock than Joanne’s, likely because there was no Bloodpop influence there to make them more pop and because of the other songwriters she worked with. They’re fantastic songs imo. Heal Me I guess is in a similar vein as TC? I wouldn’t say twin to it, but in a similar vein. She probably did write TC during that time, though, but I doubt ever intended it for ASIB.

I’m having trouble recognizing this but if it is it would most definitely have been the last song because that had a string and piano drive iirc. I remember the main melody of the main song, The Shallows (it was my favorite and played a few times), and a hook or two from the bop ones but the thing is with this movie the songs are very integrated into the movie so you don’t often hear full songs. Usually it’s either playing in the background of a rehearsal, someone showing a bit of it, etc.

It’s hard to say because as I said in the response above, you only hear parts of songs for the most part because of how they’re integrated into the film. It’s less La La Land and old Hollywood and more like music drives much of the plot of the film instead. So it’s constantly there, but just not the main focus because the story is; music is a motif but not that driving action itself. The one I remember hearing the full (or at least most) of is The Shallows and that was my absolute favorite. It’s great.
