Who's getting the Video Vanguard Award this year?

I actually think Taylor is the strongest contender this year. 

Its been 12 years and she’s released record breaking videos, and has been part of some of the VMAs most relevant moments. 

She’s defonitely gonna be nominated for ****, but I doubt she’ll attend unless she’s winning the vanguard (cause why would anyone attend that boring mess anymore).

I’m always surprised that people act like it’s based solely on merit.  You sweet summer children.

The answer to this question is always: who has something to promote? The artists mentioned in this thread are all plausible - Xtina (new album), Drake (new album), Taylor (tour) are all good candidates.

Gaga won’t get it until she truly wants and needs to promote something AND it coincides with the timeline of the VMAs.

Gaga deseves it but since they have been sleeping on her videos since 2011 and gaga was upset about them 2013 so i don't think any parts want her to have it tbh. The fact that she released PI just days after the VMAs 2016 instead of just debuting it there/days before it just shows how much she cares about the VMA.

Maybe because she can't always fall back on the videos from her first three eras?

Let Katy or Taylor get it this year. Gaga needs another era where all the videos will be top notch and then get the award,

Regardless of your opinion of her recent output, you really think the organizers of the VMAs sit around and think about the candidates recent videos?  They don’t care. If they did Pink and JT wouldn’t have one. They’d probably give it to Justin Bieber if Scooter wanted him to have it.

She attended the BBMAs though, and it's not like the BBMAs are that relevant. So yeah I bet she's attending even if it's just regular nominations.

As much as I want Gaga to receive it so bad (+ do a 15 min medley of her hits), I don't think she's releasing before August so I'm guessing this year will be Xtina & Taylor Swift most likely. Katy Perry is also a big guess since she has more iconic videos than the previous two.

I think Gaga is getting it next year since she's releasing most likely in late 2018/beggining of 2019.

I answered it from a point of view of the person I quoted, they were clearly alluding that Gaga's videos are Vanguard worthy.

Christina deserves this 100% I have no doubt Lady Gaga will get this one year but I don’t think this will be the year
