There’s absolutely no way that ARTPOP didn’t make money. For one, that rumor supposed that marketing costs were high when that album was not marketed all that strongly and where it was marketed, it was in tv ads that would be paying her to use that song (like DWUW and the Beats commercial or the Barclays one). Then that Muppets special was likely the same deal, they paid her. Couple that with the fact that the album did actually sell pretty well and I have my doubts about that rumor being even remotely true. I understand that they think the ArtRAVE launch was expensive, and it probably was, but every major album has a launch party; Gaga just decided to make a bigger deal out of it than other celebs do but that cost was probably already taken into account in the marketing budget and was by no means a surprise. Plus, it streaming on Vevo probably brought them coins.
