uh i wasn't trying to make it about "ME" just saying songs like this shouldn't be taken seriously to the point of offending people

"i don't like kissing girls but i didn't find anything wrong with the song!"

as if the song was offending gay men...

that was my opinion, i wasn't making it about me personally and i stated later on in the post IF it was a guy who did the same thing i wouldn't of been offended either.. i was making a joke out of this saying "yeah i don't kiss girls so i can't relate to the lyrics" cause i don't find it to be that serious and as a gay man myself i can crack jokes about my community cause i just don't see this song or the statement of the song to be offensive in any way shape or form!

gay men don't live the same lives as lesbian or bisexual women (especially queer women of color).

by pretending we all have the same experiences is to ignore the seriousness of misogyny in our community

i have been discriminated against enough in my life as a gay white male thank you very much so don't say we don't live the same life as other people from the community, do i agree with you with that lesbian/bisexual (woman of color) probably get more criticism and its totally not fair, absolutely yes but you don't know my life or anything i have experienced in it.

Good. This whole “I’m not really gay/bi but imma sing about it in a shallow, superficial way in order to get sales and streams” is annoying af lol sure the song was meant to be a light, fun song, and Rita herself is Bi, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that they tried exploiting both gay/bi women but also straightbois’ fetish for lesbians lol

You’re all in for bicuriosity but when someone talks about it without making an official coming out it’s suddenly not ok ?

I’d rather have them do this than fake that they’re bisexual only to make people shut up.

When Charli did the exact same song about boys you didn’t blink an eye. But now that it’s about girls they should make a whole pledge of allegiance to the LGBT community ?

For people who say homosexuality shouldn’t be a big deal that’s sure as hell ironic.

I personally don't think Rita owed anybody an apology for HER story. And why is it bad that not everyone in this song identifies as part of the LGBTQ community? Should we not be able to promote bi-curiosity without it turning into this huge ordeal?

It's a fun, light hearted pop song about experimenting. I don't think it was made to be taken THIS seriously by some people.

Wait are u the one who's in a lot of satc clips comment section on YT?

As a lesbian, I can understand how this song might offend some. But I really choose to recognize the song for what it is, a fun summer bop. I like to get drunk and kiss girls too...

The apology seemed  heartfelt and i hope those that were offended can accept it!

Ummm they weren't saying you've never been discriminated against... They said your experience will never be the same as sapphic women and sapphic women of color. It's true that people of different sexualities, gender, and race will not experience the same thing, even though we are all under the umbrella of LGBT+. We don't live the same lives. You sound like people who deny white privilege just because they have experienced hardships :saladga: People have differing experiences, it is how it is.
