Please - MJ did not invent everything and he was inspired from other things for his music video.

So was Gaga for Bad Romance.

You don’t understand what I’m saying :laughga:

Everything is inspired by everything and everything happens because something before it happened.

Thriller would not have happened if events and cultural moments did not happen before it. JUST like BR.

for the joanne era she kept saying she wanted "the era to be about the music" as if videos took away from music. MJ and Janet and Madonna always understood that videos and songs go hand and hand one doesn't detract from the other

She still made 4 videos who all fit the songs and most who was good so why do you act like she stoped doing them? :poot:

How can somebody mention that fad song with a masterpiece that changed lives, music industry and won two grammys; Bad Romance.

Thriller is like the master and BR is the disciple. Appreciating Bad Romance will uplift Thriller more. :kara:

Thriller's music video was more impactful than BR's, despite BR's being a very recognizable music video with many awards and acclaim.

Despite this, I think as a song Bad Romance did more for pop music this decade than Thriller as a song did in the 80s

Thriller obviously.

Let's not make this comparison outside this board. Makes us look delusional

I don’t even know how this is a question.

THRILLER BY FAR. I mean, we all love Bad Romance and it’s her most iconic song, but compare it with Thriller it’s a blasphemy

MJ and Gaga are my two faves but in terms of video and pop culture impact, Thriller is simply unmatched by any other video ever. Bad Romance in my opinion is second place in that regard.

In terms of the songs, I think most would agree Bad Romance is a better song and may even have more impact on “modern” pop culture because of its recency—and also the fact that Gaga rejuvenated the pop music video creativity that was pretty lacking in pop for years prior to her debut. It also I think it represents the biggest “peak” of all time matching video and song and the chronology of success of the artist. However, Thriller as a music video is still the most iconic of all time and the blueprint for so many pop music videos/choreography/etc. that came after it that I have to give the nod to it. :)

I thought I've seen this thread before.

But the tea is without Thriller we wouldn't have Bad Romance
