The eventful month of Kanye West continued Tuesday with the release of an extensive sit-down interview, which was immediately followed by the rapper invading the TMZ offices and calling slavery “a choice.”

On TMZ Live, West defended his support of the president and “Make America Great Again,” saying he loves his “boy” Trump. He then transitioned to the discussion of race, stating “When you hear about slavery for 400 years, for 400 years? That sounds like a choice. Like, you where there for 400 years and there’s all of y’all? It’s like we’re mentally imprisoned.”

Hmm. Sounds like he's been surrounded by money for so long that he forgot where he came from and what problems he faced as a youth.

According to people close to him like chance the rapper and kim he doesnt have mental problems and he‘s fine. He‘s being controversial on purpose to get attention for his new music. It‘s not the first time he has done this.

his fanboys will stick with him literally no matter what he does or says so thinking that this will ruin his career is a bit naive.

I don't agree with his statement, even when you don't take it out of context as this article did, but I appreciate that a public figure like Kanye exists. There is value in having a culturally important figure who is unafraid to share unpopular thoughts, and confront accepted norms. It's particularly refreshing in the "canceled climate."

Keep talking Kanye.

I'm so glad that when Gaga does "controversy", she does it with killer fashion. I feel bad for Kanye stans who get this instead of real promo.
