He then transitioned to the discussion of race, stating “When you hear about slavery for 400 years, for 400 years? That sounds like a choice. Like, you where there for 400 years and there’s all of y’all? He‘s being controversial on purpose to get attention for his new music. There is value in having a culturally important figure who is unafraid to share unpopular thoughts, and confront accepted norms. It's particularly refreshing in the "canceled climate."
