To this day this is the only song in which she did than in a non-pretentious way. Speechless, Dope, Joanne, her other "emotional" songs are aware that they are big ballads and will be listened to by millions, so they try to be something that is not the true Stefani Germanotta. VoldeLorde 74 Posted April 29, 2018 Share Posted April 29, 2018 I truly believe that with the correct amount of promotion, Brooklyn Nights could've made it into the top ten globally. It's really sad to look back on the era because she had so much she wanted to do. Everything just crashed on her at the same time (media attacking her, applause vs. roar, manger leaving, DWUW, etc.) and it became too much. I feel that if things went her way and everything went smoothly, the era could've been longer, with maybe MANiCURE and Gypsy as singles. But, everything happens for a reason.
