It was not a "mental illness" situation in this case He had physical health problems like serious stomach problems and the combination of that + his management overworking him was what caused him to do this. He was asked about the album in an interview. What was he supposed to answer? He said that he was going to talk to his family and do what they believe Avicii would've wanted them to do.
