Beyoncé debuted “Formation” at the Super Bowl. Its peak position was #10 (three months later). Justin Timberlake debuted “Filthy” at the SB. Its peak position was #9. Gaga debuted “Million Reasons.” And its peak position was #4:trollga:If I were you, I wouldn’t pay mind to anyone:fthis:

I’m actually nice.

Yes, it is. MR was one.

Let's just call it 'former-underperformance' then because it turned out succesful eventually.

The superbowl would have happened in any case, Joanne or not. Let's not act like she got the Superbowl because of Joanne or the Superbowl was a part of the Era :awkney: and Million Reasons before the Superbowl was a flop (peaking at #52 on the BBHOT100)

Except that it warrants mentioning that a lot of her time and resources were devoted to the Super Bowl so we can't say what promo would have looked like without it since, seemingly, it was all tailored to fit around her schedule for that.

Well Filthy actually debuted on #9 before the SB. After its debut it tumbled down the charts. After the SB it reached #53 again to hold it one more week on the Hot 100.

Which is worse because after the SB, I would’ve expected the song to peak higher than how it did in January.

I’m actually nice.

I mean they said that they picked her immediately after they heard Joanne, so its not like it had nothing to do with it. And Million Reasons going from a peak of #52 to #4 just proves the OP's point that it didn't flop bc people didn't like it, it just didn't have the exposure it needed to be successful

THIS. You put it in a better way in less than 3 sentences

I have a twitter account for like 7 years and one thing that i learned from it is that stan twitter is garbage, toxic etc if it's one aritst that has their moment on a specific time most people would do anything to put them down so then they could praise their favs, most of the time inventing all kinds of idiotic excuses. There's a reason why Gaga had the biggest boost in sales after the SB, it's because she did an AMAZING show, this success wasn't handed to herself, she EARN it. And by the way the very same people were saying before her Super Bowl that if she performs Million Reasons she's gonna make everyone bored, that the song will flop even more because "this type of songs doesn't work for SB" guess who laughed later and also guess who's mad right now and inventing more excuses....

This times a thousand. I bet those little chartsters dragging MR and praying she doesn't sing it at the SB are the same ones defending and worshipping that song for saving the era :triggered: Queen of always breaking everyone's expectations and proving them wrong :tony:

Btw, I didn't know u ran that account! It's one of the few Gaga accounts I followed all the time before I joined this cult site :diane::wub:

Look I've worked at major stores whose main business is CDs. During my time only TWO albums received such a large push to the point where everyone wanted copies. 25 and Joanne. No other pop albums came close.

well that's cool for your store, but that's totally anecdotal evidence. Numbers would say otherwise...

In the US, 25 sold about 20 times more than Joanne in its first week. 3.4 million to 170 thousand
