Madonna was still relevant with Hard Candy She was not popular "just" for the gays 4 minutes fell out of the top 10 faster than it reached there lol. It was barely a hit. brit4ever 2,034
Hmmmmm......... no With her 3 hit songs 10+ years ago she havn't even surpassed Avril Lavigne on that, lol at the comparisson to MJ. She might be the best performer out there right now, I give that to her, but I'm fed up of people acting like she is some kind of God, or whatever. Appart from being the best performer at the moment, she is not the best in any other category, not even within the female artists, let alone among all. Madonna, Katy, Taylor and Rihanna have more hits. Madonna, Whitney, Adele(in less than 8 years), Britney, Mariah sold more albums. Madonna and Tina Turner have grossed more on tours and have sold more concert tickets. Taylor and Adele are currently outselling her with ease, 25 sold more than Lemonade's and Beyonce' combineds total sales in like 2 weeks. She has 0 albums that sold over 20 Million coppies, never had a song debute at #1 and never sold more than a million albums in a week. She has written probably less than 1% of her discography. Her last hit outside the US was 10+ years ago. She is the best performer right now, but she can't be compared to him, she is not and never will be even "Michael during HIStory" level of fame and impact. Enough said. Half of the artist that claim to write their own songs could benefit from some extra writers tbh.
MonsterofFame 1,785
Sorry, but Beyonce hasn't come close the level of popularity that Michael Jackson had with the GP, and still has. Everybody knows and enjoys Michael's songs. Most people know of Beyonce, but they don't jam out to her music, or even listen to it (I'm talking GP here, like our parents included). This could come with time though as our generation ages and our (future) kids were raised listening to her like we were. I would say though that Beyonce's skill as a performer, and the quality of her music/videos/performances probably has met Michael's. I wasn't around for Michael's peak though, so I can't really judge for sure.

If relevance was about single chart position then Beyoncé would be a C-list artist 4 minutes reached top 3 by its 2nd week only because first week was radio-only. The song was everywhere on the radio in Europe. The music video was played many times a day on TV. Hard Candy sold well and the Sticky and Sweet Tour made history. So... Yeah... Madonna was definitelly still relevant.

And let’s not pretend that all of britney’s “hit” singles plummeted off the charts after reaching their peaks. Britney’s album sales kept on declining after her debut album. Beyoncé has managed to stay relevant much longer than Britney. So don’t go there. Sorry bout it. I like Britney but don’t make it seem that she is bigger than Beyoncé. I think they’re about equal. As for the topic and Bey surpassing MJ
