I even think that the movie it self will notre be a huge sucess worldwide. I live in France and none of the french radios or Tv shows have talked about it for now. The ASIB soundtrack will be the studio versions of the songs they performed live during movie recordings, I suppose. Even if it's short lived, THEN she can get into Vegas show mode and perhaps release a new album for that, a Hits package or whatever she's up to. The end of the year has all the elements together to be a million times more exciting than this first part of the year. That J 12,166 Posted April 14, 2018 Share Posted April 14, 2018 This is a tricky film to predict because sometimes these movies dont work and sometimes the thirst is REAL for these things and it smashes. I could absolutely see it performing in between good and fantastic. Also take into account eventual blu ray sales and such. It's really premature to even think of how it will do. Prince's Purple Rain soundtrack is another example. The fact is, she'll have songs on it but she will promote the movie, so regardless she won't have time to promote a new album, a soundtrack album and movie and her Vegas residency in one year. BigDreamer 79 Posted April 14, 2018 Share Posted April 14, 2018 There are those weird times when songs like Jennifer Lawrence's song from the hunger games gets played on major radio or when animated movies like Frozen and Moana blow up on other commercial fronts. (Not necessarily radio) Soundtracks are kind of a grey area for success. There's no real formula as to what will catch on in the various commercial platforms. I'm just hopeful for some good quality bops from Gaga in this movie. If we can get that then the sales and promotional success should just feel like the icing on the cake. She'll have most of the songs on the soundtrack as solo and probably 1 or 2 duets + 1 or 2 songs that will be Bradley, but for sure it's 85% her songs. It will be promoted cuz they will chase that Oscar again for Original Song at least, just like TIHTY was everything we had in 2015, ASIB will be everything for 2018.... nattuggla 21,812 Posted April 14, 2018 Share Posted April 14, 2018 Well it's definitely difficult to tell so I don't get these people who claim the movie/soundtrack will be a sure fine flop or hit. However if we look at the movie 'The Greatest Showman' I know that I haven't seen any big hype/promotion about it and in the beginning the movie 'struggled' on a box office level. However word-of-mouth advertising helped the movie to become a slow burner which also was reflecting on the sales of the soundtrack which is by now one of the best selling albums of 2018 so far with over 2M units. (sales plus streaming) Also the movie ended up doing quite well on a box office level. Maybe there is a shift to more hype in musical movies with movies like 'La La Land' and 'Greatest Showman' and they were paving the way that movies like ASIB will have it easier with finding the core audience and more success.... Only time will tell and we have to see if WB is gonna promote it and if the first reception for the movie/soundtrack are gonna be good and people tend to like it.
