Bradley 59,256
Perfect Illusion is not a 'fck you' to the fans. It's about Taylor Kinney and also social media being a veil to the authenticity of human beings. Yes I actually believe in that interpretation. A lot of fans bought and enjoyed Joanne, so whether it's for the fans or not, I'm glad it's widely supported by fans and non-fans alike.
Laceface 2,964
Most Gaga songs have multiple 'interpretations', some of which she will explain, others especially to do with relationships she NEVER has admitted to or elaborated on, even since TF days with Dada. It's part of the ambiguity in her music as well as the dislike of talking about her love life.

Watch the music video for Perfect Illusion and then Million Reasons. The music videos, at the very least, are totally about her career. Gaga said many times that shortly after the release of ARTPOP, she had thought about quitting music altogether ... Which totally fits with the storyline within the two music videos. HairBow 602
To be honest ... I'm not surprised that Joanne was released at all. I thought that it was years in the making, to be honest. When I first became a Lady Gaga fan back in 2009 (and I started to become a big fan after seeing her perform her songs acoustically), I had always assumed that she would eventually move towards more stripped down music. I had said many times to people that "She's going to do whatever the f*** she wants after her fame and money reach a certain necessary point for her to do it." I'll always love The Fame and the Fame Monster of course ... But I'm personally thrilled that she did a jazz album and then a more stripped down album like Joanne. I'm one of those people who listens to Million Reasons on a regular basis and is STILL not sick of it.

Honestly in my opinion the songs would've been just acoustic demos just like the angel down work tape. It's why I don't really care about them. misunderstood 8,736
OT: Great post. It's why as an artist to artist perspective I respect her decision to do something different, and something she wanted to do. Even tho as a music lover I didn't care for it as much, I'm happy she did it. "I'd rather be poor and happy, than rich and alone"

moonboywow 3,136
I think the gays need to branch out and listen to other genres. There’s more to music than dance pop ~bops~. There are other music genres that have the same effect. I think that’s what Joanne is. Plain and simple.

Ronk 14,762
I agree that Joanne was not for her fans. It's what she wanted to do. But I don't think she does anything to diss her fans. It's not in her nature to be unkind to anyone, including her fans. She's a person, and it became time for her to think about herself, her life, her wants. I'm very happy for her, and hope she continues to follow her own dreams, her own artistry, and her own vision. Personally, I would enjoy another jazz album the most, but would rather she does whatever makes her happy. She deserves it. I live outside the space time continuum. FameMonster01 7,074
I liked Joanne and it`s obvious that this was a stripped down album and very personal, and it was about showing the "Lady" and person she is but personally, I would really love for her to release songs from the original #LG5. Something like The Fame Monster vibes and to be kind of radio-friendly as well, so that we get a streaming queen ( of course I do not think all of her albums should have this theme, but I think it`s time for her to slay the whole world again.) Just imagine what amazing performances with this theme she could pull out in Vegas then
