Girl she's gonna climb that BB100, just like MR. Plus it's like the 4th single sooo

I don't think that will happen with this single.

Right and this is coming from the same person who thinks the fame was bigger than 1989. 😂

The Fame sold 15 million copies, the standard version (excluding TFM) sold 11 million. How was it NOT bigger than 1989, which sold 10 million?

Are you for real?

I honestly agree that TF is bigger than 1989, if only because Just Dance and Poker Face are classics beyond a doubt and 1989 really hasn't proven it's longevity.

But sales are not gonna help you. 1989 was released 6 years after TF, when album sales were down significantly. 1989's album sales are more impressive. (TF's legacy is more impressive though).

Well 1989 had much bigger tour. Let’s be honest the fame would not have sold 15 million copies if it weren’t for the fame monster because after all their sales are combined  and that’s real facts. The original the fame and 1989 had similar successs

Well that's because Taylor is an established act that had big tours before her peak era, while Gaga's The Fame tour was her FIRST. It's the biggest headlining debut tour, according to Guinness World Records, for a reason.

Yes, 1989 was a bigger tour, BUT the singles from The Fame (Just Dance and Poker Face) charted higher than Shake it Off and Blank Space. Poker Face alone charted better than any Taylor single EVER:

Poker Face: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poker_Face_(Lady_Gaga_song)#Charts

Blank Space: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blank_Space#Charts

Poker Face was #1 in 21 countries, while Blank Space was only #1 in seven countries and Shake it Off was #1 in nine countries

So 1989 had the bigger tour, but TF had the bigger hits.

We could say that both eras were equally successful BUT Gaga's fame and media attention was faaaaaaaar bigger than Taylor's. I mean, I don't know how old you were when Gaga debuted but I was in high school and EVERYONE talked about Gaga.

alright if you want to make it about singles as well. we can do that. 1989 sold 10,250,000 copies within just a few years in climate of declining album sales however the fame sold about same in a time with much better album sales, therefore your argument there is invalid :ladyhaha:. Now singles,  poker face charted for 40 weeks and was #1 for a week. Shake it off was number 1 for 4 weeks (and spent numerous weeks at number 2) and was on the chart for 50 weeks. which was the bigger hit again?? along with this 1989 produced 4 more top 10 singles (including 2 #1's) all of which are certified multi-platinum. so saying that the fame's singles were bigger is a reach.  and yes gaga does have the best debut tour grossing but it also had 203 shows while The 1989 tour had only 85 shows and still out grossing the monster ball, so again invalid point. if Gaga was as big as you make it out to be, then she could easily grossed much more with less shows because you know it was her peak. I love Gaga but, i'm not delusional. what made the fame iconic because she was someone fresh who had great shock to grab attention.

But Poker Face was #1 in a whooping 21 countries, something Taylor has never ever done. Taylor has never had a single that big worldwide. We are talking WORLDWIDE.

1989 sold 6 out of her 10 million in the United States.

The Fame sold 4 out of her 11 million in the Unites States. So 60 PERCENT of TF's sales came from outside of America, while only 40 percent of 1989's came from outside of America.

And the sales climate thing is true, but a bit of a reach. Sales in 2009 were in the toilet as well, so 10 million then was huuuuuge as well.

We're not comparing 1999 to 2014 lol.

I mean, you don't wanna go with sales, fair enough. Let's go by chart positions AND certifications:

1989: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_(Taylor_Swift_album)#Certifications

The Fame:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fame#Certifications

The Fame has certifications from a lot more countries than 1989 and also charted in more territories than 1989.

lol what are you talking now you're really trying to reach just to prove a delusional point. 2008/09 had a MUCH better sales climate than in 2014/15. because many albums were able to still reach  6xplatinum certifications ( even diamond). of course not as easily as 1999 but still very high enough for album sales still counted for over 60% of sales still lol. and since you claim poker was way BIGGER than any Taylor song, (which can still be debated but whatever) shouldn't her album sales be higher for the fame? after all, singles are to PROMOTE an album. but some how 1989 still sold more which "lesser successful singles" as you might say :trollga:. so i'm not sure what point you are still trying to argue lol. Yes the fame was iconic but in most ways the 1989 era was more successful. it's ok to not be a big fan  of Taylor ( because i don't like her either :toofunny:) but to totally disregard her accomplishments is delusional. please if you want to argue a another point please let it make sense.

Spoiler

i'm sorry if i come on to aggressive but arguing points is kinda what i do lol. Political science major in college. :derpga:

Phlop

Reputation wiped the floor with Joanne. Idk why people are acting like TS flopped.

Reputation sold 2 million in the US ALONE. Joanne is barely hitting platinum in the US (860k, it’s certified platinum though) and only sold a little over 1 mil WW.
