HairBow 602 Posted March 30, 2018 Share Posted March 30, 2018 One of my best friends recommended The Fame to me back in 2009 (during the time period where Poker Face was the current single). I listened to a couple songs and wrote it off as "just another stupid pop album." Then, something compelled me to listen to the entire album and understood that there was definitely a running theme going with the seemingly vapid lyrics. Once I understood the album as "The 'bubblegum pop' version of Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar," I grew to LOVE it. Then, I found videos of her playing Poker Face and Paparazzi on the piano, and I've been a big fan ever since! Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I completely wrote Lady Gaga off and didn't even want to TRY to listen to her music at first because "ewwww pop music." Haha. Shortly after I actually became a fan, the Paparazzi video happened, then the Paparazzi VMA performance happened, and then the Bad Romance music video happened. All of these things left me SHOOK and made me SO happy that I became a fan soon enough to see these as they happened. After seeing the Bad Romance video for the first time, though, I had then realized that we were witnessing music history. MAN, was it a great time to be a fan during that time period!
