gagzus 16,004
It’s down to two things; one being because she hasn’t made an empire like the Kardashian’s have really, I mean yes she has her music, perfumes and DJ set (which always makes me go 💀💀) but the Kardashian’s have got makeup, music, a tv series, appearances, charities, clothing lines etc etc The second is the kardashians aren’t as air headed, racist, homophobic or transphobic. Paris made a living off being the spoilt rich white girl but nobody cares for that trend now and realises it ain’t a good way to be. Just my opinion though

Inferno 2,880
I think Kim learned the do's and don'ts from Paris' success and went on to perfect it. I don't think that makes her better however. Paris is the original. And quite honestly....when any Kim fanatic tries to argue that Paris now "works" for her because of that Yeezy campaign its ridiculous to me. They're still using Paris for publicity and her being featured in the campaign brought the most attention of anyone they used. If anything they were using eachother. The family brand has really boosted everyone's careers If it was just Kim, she would have faded out long, long time ago. She's nothing special with obviously no discernible talent. She was a flat white girl that changed her body to look exactly like her sisters, women of color. She desperately wanted to look like the kardashian brand. Thats not even up for debate. And thats on top of the fact that shes marketed to young latinas who idolize her. When she was modeling for YMI jeans (a brand usually targeted at young latinas) her billboards were only plastered around latino populated areas here in los angeles. if you can't acknowledge all that? You've been sipping that kardashian kool-aid. And im also a poc btw as if thats supposed to add validity to what were saying?

When defending your position on the topic refrain from using that language. It’s unnecessary and uncalled for. Continuing with that language will result in the locking of the thread and you receiving warning points. 2. You have your opinion, I have my own. Leave as is, please and thank you. StrawberryBlond 14,881
It truly is a fascinating read and really shows how Paris's outdated model of reality tv fame was not going to hold up as as time went on. She was always trying to act like she was above reality stars, even though she was one. That's why she made perfumes and released music and acted. Because she hoped that that stuff would propel her to a higher level so she wouldn't have to make reality tv to be relevant anymore. That's why she only did 2 shows (I think) after The Simple Life in all these years. The Kardashians are different in the sense that they know what works and they've never forgotten what made them famous, they've always kept the show no matter how much their status rises or how much money they make. It makes them more likeable than a reality star who thinks they're now too good for that stuff and are now biting the hand that feeds them. One thing I've noticed about the Kardashians is that they know what works and what doesn't. If something is a failure from the outset or starts majorly flagging in popularity, they cut it loose and move on. That ensures they're always giving the public what they're enjoying and focusing on improving the things they're good at. Kim released one song, it was terrible, it got terrible reviews, it sold terribly. What happened next? She never did it again. Paris, on the other hand, made a complete album and couldn't get the message that there was no demand for her as a singer and she possessed no singing talent. She seems to put out one new song every year with a music video and it does terribly and she still keeps going. After 12 years of failing to release a follow-up album, you'd think she'd believe that singing wasn't her calling, but no, she just keeps doing it. It makes her appear out of touch. I believe Kim's only released one perfume which wasn't a massive seller or anything, so she didn't keep pursuing that direction. Paris, on the other hand, doesn't know when to stop and I believe she's still releasing a new perfume every year that she's been famous even though the public stopped caring after the first 3. Kim released an app game which was highly successful and she's been very involved in promoting it and seems very passionate about it whereas Paris got one mobile game in her honour years ago where she showed up 90 minutes late for the premiere and got the name of it wrong. Say what you want about the Kardashians but they seem to be focused on creating a long-term products and are knowledgable about what they're selling and know when to stop if a business venture isn't working. Paris may have been business minded too but Robert Kardashian instilled a real business head into his family that has proved to be a more successful formula. I remember a GGD user once wrote a piece about how amazing it was that Kim has risen to such a high status despite the fact that she became famous for a sex tape. They pointed out that yes, while she is considered trashy by many, you can't deny that she's reached dizzying heights compared to other sex tape celebrities. None of them have ended up being part of a reality series that's been running for over a decade, married a highly successful, praised, Grammy-winning rapper, been on the cover of Vogue, been invited to the MET Gala, been on the NY fashion week front row with Anna Wintour, is invited to highly prestigious award ceremonies and has been interviewed by some of the world's most prestigious interviewers. Paris came pretty close but not to the point where she was treated like an proper A-lister. She must be seething inside really, wondering where she went wrong in all this. 13 hours ago, DiscoHeaven23 said: I think one thing is that Paris Hilton is 37 now. A lot of her popularity was based on antics of an early to mid 20-something year old girl. She's practically a middle-aged woman. When she got her first big spotlight in the 2000 Vanity Fair article, Paris was 19. By the time Keeping Up with the Kardashian started, Kim was 27 years old. She was more mature and never based her career on being a college aged party girl. Therefore, its been easier for her to age in the spotlight, than Paris Very true. Kim was considered downright elderly by reality tv standards to be embarking on such a career as that had always been the domain of the very young but the fact that she gained a fanbase despite being a more advanced age is a good sign that she could hang around. For Paris, one of the biggest critiques I saw people make of her when she hit 30 was that she had to grow up, that she was too old to be acting so ditzy and wild. When you start out young, people are really aware of how you're suddenly "old" and maybe decide that you're automatically not cool anymore. 12 hours ago, F AM E said: I think (at least for me) the whole family aspect of the Kardashians is what has made them last so long. The family brand has really boosted everyone's careers Very good point. There's always multiple things going on in the family to keep you entertained. Kim getting married and having kids, Kourtney's fall-out with Scott, Khloe's divorce from Lemar and his subsequent overdose, Kris divorcing from Bruce, Bruce transitioning into Caitlyn, Kendall becoming a model, Kylie and Khloe getting pregnant. Something's always going on with all the members of this family, even the mother and father who are older and not even the "stars" of the show. But Paris is all on her own and that's not enough to carry a reality show for years if she really is such a "sweet and normal" girl as she's always insisted she is. I remember that Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag once said that they were never offered their own reality show because they knew that they were such a lovey-dovey couple with no drama, so that didn't make for ratings. 12 hours ago, Aquarius said: That’s true but I think celebs have to balance both aspects out. A good example of balancing mystery & emotional truth, I think, would be Beyoncé. She’s all about mystery inbetween album cycles, so much so that she hardly ever posts on social media. But when she drops her album, her emotional truth is revealed, a la LEMONADE: where we found out that her marriage isn’t perfect like everyone thought. I think Gaga just go bored of keeping that balance, since she doesn’t desire fame anymore. Thing is with Beyonce...I don't know how much longer she can keep up this air of mystery in a world that demand ready access to celebrities and wants to know everything. Her younger generation of fans may well be growing bored of the fact that she rarely tells us anything or promotes, so she stands out in a bad way as opposed to the other celebrities they follow. It's worth noting that her last 2 albums, though not flops, didn't sell as well as her earlier work. Lemonade has only sold a little more than AP (yet it's cited as a major hit). Now that she's older and is a mother of three, this air of mystery can hardly benefit her much longer. Ageism makes mincemeat of the best of people. And to be honest, I don't know if anyone ever truly believed that her marriage was perfect anyway. She's been called out for being fake more now than she ever has. 6 hours ago, gagzus said: The second is the kardashians aren’t as air headed, racist, homophobic or transphobic. Paris made a living off being the spoilt rich white girl but nobody cares for that trend now and realises it ain’t a good way to be. That's what I was thinking. Paris, despite being 37, dating a lot of men and living in the melting pot of California has never appeared to have ever dated a non-white man. Not helped by the fact that she was caught saying the n-word on tape. The Kardashians, on the other hand, love black men, every single one of them has dated black men (and still currently are). Quite a contrast. They also supported Caitlyn's transition (hope it wasn't just for show) whereas Paris never seemed to truly fight for the LGBT community even though they loved her a lot. Though I don't actually remember any instance of her being actually LGBT-phobic, unless you have examples? Yeah, I think Paris's idea of "empty-headed and proud" really doesn't come off well in today's society. The Kardashians always prided themselves on saying they were smart, even if the rest of the world thought differently, and thought it was cool to be a strong, independent woman. ProdigyARTPOP 3,910
Kris and Kim always know where to take the family next. Kims perfume line and game and makeup line are doing insanely well. Kourtney has her app, her capsule collection, her interior designing work that she’s starting. Khloe has her app, her fitness journey, her own show. Kendall has her modeling career, her many interviews, and commercials, her brand with Kylie Kylie is a mega mogul as well, highly successful brand with Kendall, makeup brand, her app, her advertisements, and her show Rob has his sock line, his appearances on the show, he’s getting back in shape, and i’ve heard rumors they want to throw him back into the game.
