Pamelaisley 933 Posted March 4, 2018 Share Posted March 4, 2018 (long post warning, i guess) My mom told me that she wanted to surprise me with Phantom of the Opera tickets when she got her tax return. She got it last week so we bought the tickets. She eventually got the idea that we should go to Joanne Trattoria since I've been dying to go there and we should just make a whole day of it. I was like, "pssh, no way. we'll never get in." But I wouldn't be telling this story if we didn't get in!! So I made reservations for after the play. The restaurant was pretty tiny but it was so homey and comfortable!! My mom and I are at this tiny table and we're talking to a woman at the next one and my mom told her that we came from NJ to see the play and that we're hoping to meet Gaga's parents tonight. She even told the waitress that too and asked the waitress if he was here and she was like, "no, not tonight." I saw stickers when I walked in so I asked her if I could have some and she gave me 5 There was a really cute waitress with a snake tattoo but my ass was too scared to say something until I got up to go pee and told her I liked her tattoo. Mom and I got dessert but we still had 45 minutes until my brother was gonna get us (we didn't wanna take the train or an uber so we asked him since he works in NY/knows it well). I looked down the hall and I saw a woman with platinum blonde hair and I was like, "i hope that's not her mom" but then I looked again and I SAW JOE. He was hugging the servers and I was like, "MOM, HE'S HERE. HER DAD'S HERE OH MY GOD" so she made me get my Joanne Trattoria cookbook (it was her idea to bring it since we could've run into him) and we followed him. She told him we came from NJ and he jokingly said, "that's not my problem." He then told her he recognized her and she made a dirty joke (inb4 my family and i are banned from the restaurant now) and he just gave her this LOOK. I asked him to sign my book and when he asked my name, I spelled it for him since my name's uncommon. He asked where in NJ we were from so I told him and my mom was explaining and he was like, "oh that's south. I'm from Elizabeth but I'm sure you knew that." My mom asked, "don't you want a picture with him?" so we took one! I asked Cynthia for a picture but she told me that she doesn't take pictures and when I asked her for an autograph she said, "I don't sign things either, I'm sorry. I'm not the star." Joe cut in to say something like, "That's just my wife." I was apologizing and my mom jumped in to say, "but you're a star with your foundation!" She thanked us for following along and told me, "I do give hugs though." So I hugged her. Overall, it was just an amazing night and I'm so happy!!! I mean, were they blunt and short with you hoping you'd leave them alone? I'm so happy for you though. I don't think I would have had the balls to strike up a conversation with them. Edited to say There's nothing wrong with how you look, you don't look like a rat. It's just ashame your mom was shaking but it's still an awesome picture. I live a half hour south of Elizabeth and we always say that this place sucks but it shaped us I'm glad you created a great memory today, and you don't look like a rat!
