SpaceAce 1,058
Just now, The Surrealist said: I don't even know what to say to people who don't read my comments. So I will just leave it at that. “But if doctors say it doesn't exist it maybe just doesn't exist?” “Maybe it's psychosomatic or because of anxiety.” “I'm sure a doctor would exclude everything to make a diagnosis and if the patient is still feeling pain or uncomfortable he is not cured.” “Either those doctors bought their degree on eBay or the disease doesn't exist.” Um... there is really no other way to construe your comment. You were pretty straight forward. I would simply suggest not trusting that a doctor “would exclude everything to make a diagnosis” when it comes to your health and instead trust your body and what you know you’re going through. Obviously my example and the example from the user above directly contradict your theory that this would happen “if the patient is still feeling pain or uncomfortable he is not cured”. SpaceAce 1,058
I have had fibromyalgia since I was a child and my doctor continued to call it “growing pains” well into my teens. I finally got diagnosed by a team of specialists at a children’s hospital when I was 16 and received the support I needed to manage the pain and focus again in school. Blind trust in doctors is a no no.

It can be a real pain in the butt having to go from doctor to doctor, hear the same questions and give the same answers and receive different responses - some indifferent and some just plain confusing. It’s really important to go through that process though if you know something is not right or something is not adding up.

Blind trust in doctors is a no no. That's exactly what happened to me at first. I was told it was growing pains for a while, then I was told that the pain is just in my head, then I was told hypermobility which I do have but didn't explain most of the pain, that my back pain was just because of not being strong enough until we've finally come around to fibromyalgia. It took 3 years of seeing doctors all the time but we finally got there and I'm currently on hospital homebound school which is much better than missing normal school most days due to pain. cool
