TEANUS 16,188
Yes because the actions of one clearly mentally unstable or out of the right state of mind teacher in a primarily conservative state should dictate the future and predict the behavior of other teachers in America. You have to be out of your right mind to shoot at anyone with or without the intent to harm them. I have hunted dear recreationally for my entire life (following all current hunting and gun owning regulations mind you) and sincerely enjoy it as a hobby; it's peaceful but exhilarating at the same time when you finally hone down the deer you've been tracking for weeks, months. Never ONCE have I even let the idea of shooting whoever else is around cross my mind. That is the correct state of mind, not whatever this teacher was succumbing to. Arming teachers isn't a bad idea and should not be considered one after the action of one teacher who clearly didn't belong in a school anyway, with or without a gun. Teachers would need to go through more extensive training and would need extra medical, physical, and capability screening before owning a gun and being able to bring it onto school grounds. This just proves that the screening for guns and those who can own/ possess them needs to be increased and furthered. Arming teachers is not a bad idea but it needs to be done correctly, and yes, there is a correct way to do it. TEANUS 16,188
But other than the political discussion around this topic.... I hope everyone is safe and can recover mentally and emotionally after this, we truly need to do something about the process of owning a gun. Giving teachers the option to bear arms might definatley limit the risk of fatal school shootings, but it doesn't solve the ****ing problem. Gun control literally works in any other country but the United States. Sure, there are school shootings here and there, but nowhere near as many as in the US, and at least in Germany, politics have immediately reacted to those and imposed stricter gun screenings, etc. AND IT WORKSSSSSSSS

Arming teachers is not a bad idea but it needs to be done correctly, and yes, there is a correct way to do it. Hunting deer is different than the kind of gun control we need. Most normal everyday hunters don't use semi-auto to fully-automatic weapons to kill a whole forest of deer at once. I want people like hunters to be able to keep their guns and get further arms that they enjoy because over-population of deer and some other types of wildlife is a very real thing and needs to be controlled. BUT Arming teachers is not now, nor will it ever be a good idea. How you equate the two makes little to no sense. Arming teachers is just a way to throw off reasonable ideas because they don't support your cash-flow and you supporting it is you feeling afraid of loosing your guns you like and/or feeling like you would be treated differently because you enjoy hunting, which isn't what people are out here trying to fight. You want to support Trump? That's fine, but you need to learn how to value human life over your entitlement to enjoy whatever you want at the possible cost of others. ALGAYDO 35,379
I can’t imagine what was going on in those kids’ heads... the fact that they were running and trampling over each other to reach safety... the fact that they were texting/tweeting/snap chatting their goodbyes in case the worst happens... and these ignorant, greedy idiots still don’t want proper gun reform... it’s disgusting... Cerny 4,270
Clearly the solution is to arm the students, if for some reason that fails to prevent these atrocities, then arm everyone, even the lunch ladies. Because when there’s a fire the only way to stop it is adding more fire, same analogy applies to floods, you add more water to dissolve the excess. If that doesn’t work (I highly doubt it though), they need to hurry the hell up and start up the Terminator program. Edit: Why the hell did I say dissolve? Lmao. This is the issue, whenever someone doesn't want to go as extreme as someone else that person is targeted and immediately people think they believe that the issue is not the guns. Well guns are the problem, no where did I say anything but. However, guns themselves are not to blame, the government, process, and people that allow for those who should not guns to own guns are to blame. Totally agree with your first point, I do find it strange for anyone to need to buy semi-automatic or fully-automatic weapons. The guns I use are always bolt-action and single shot rifles. These guns are definitely due to be off the open market British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS

I'm sorry if I came across the wrong way. Let me rephrase... What I understand you're saying is that, due to given circumstances, it's not that bad of an idea to give teachers guns. They would have to go through strict screening etc. But I think that's the wrong approach. Obviously there are responsible gun owners and all that, but I believe that there has to be a drastic change in gun laws, so that giving teacher guns to defend themselves and their students against possible attackers will become totally unneccessary. I just think that's the wrong route to take. Eventually shooters will just find other places to go ****ing nuts
