It literally sounds nothing like the original though, the melody is way different. There can be 99 bottoms in the area but all it takes is 1 top to believe in you. gagzus 15,785 Posted February 27, 2018 Share Posted February 27, 2018 I also remember reading somewhere that Madonna’s version was also originally offered to Mariah Carey as a ballad before Madonna so she definitely didn’t write much of this version anyway (besides when an artist so much as writes one word they must be put as the top credit because they’re the main song artist anyways) most of it was made for her. Only the first verse from the original is used to a very different music and melodies. How is that a cover though? And even the OP studio sessions demo repeats the first verse lyrics and has different music. Obviously the original is a big inspiration behind tge track and is therefore openly and properly credited. But that's different from what a cover is. Christine Leach and Orbit reworked the melodies, chorus and wrote the "quicker than a ray of light"/"she's got herself a universe" part. Madonna and Orbit wrote the second verse.
