If Born This Way was shorter

Born This Way often gets a lot of stick, mainly from critics, for having a few "filler tracks". With the standard edition alone sitting at 14 tracks long, the album is at no risk of being too short. Imagine if the standard tracklist was just:

1. Marry The Night
2. Born This Way
3. Government Hooker
4. Judas
5. Americano
6. Hair
7. Scheiße
8. Bloody Mary
9. Heavy Metal Lover
10.You and I
11. The Edge of Glory

A 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11 punch album :giveup:

Bad Kids, Highway Unicorn and Electric Chapel would instead feature on the Bonus Track edition, so the fans don't miss out.

I know some of you will ask "why shorten a masterpiece", but TFM is constantly lauded as Gaga's best album, mainly because there is not a single track worse than the last. If Born This Way had been edited a bit more, with a tighter tracklist, perhaps it could've shared that acclaim?

I agree, BTW is too long and it could have been much better and more impactful and cohesive if it was shorter. I think at the time Gaga tried to do anything to please her fans so she put as many songs as possible on the album. I like your 11 tracks

smh I only added some songs because there are parts that are great but the song as a whole is meh. I only added highway unicorn because of the "get your hot rods ready to rumble" part and the queen because of the beautiful bridge

I really like this track list. I do think it would make the album tighter. Bad Kids and Highway Unicorn are fun for their raw nerve and strangeness but are not essential, or altogether successful. I might still add Electric Chapel after Heavy Metal Lover, just because it probably best sums up the 80's arena rock meets avant-garde techno sound of the whole album. I also really prefer the original, shorter track list for The Fame for similar reasons.

An album is a body of work revolving around a concept. Some songs don't meet the idea of that concept and thus seem out of place and destroy the natural flow of the songs. This is what you call filler.
