As for the 'Jesus Christo', she speaks Spanish throughout the song and that is how 'Jesus Christ' is pronounced in Spanish.

So ? She speaks in Spanish throughout the song to show her misunderstanding of America's laws, as if they were speaking another language that doesn't make sense to her.

The amount of people that quote me without reading an entire thread, or even the post to which I was responding, is extraordinary.

Your response is not a response at all, it's a statement completely unrelated to what I said and my intentions behind saying it.

That's not the lyrics though...

It's just 'language, oh no'.

Nah, Jesus Christ in spanish is Jesus Cristo, not Christo :interestinga:

I'm hispanic and this song is not racist to me at all. B*tch wtf:triggered:

It makes me happy that she's singin' in Spanish about immigration and gay marriage (despite off her crazy pronounciation lmao) but I don't find it offensive.

She just wanted to make a bop with daddy Fernando Garibay for her hispanic fans :stalkga:

Anyway , In Spanish is "Jesucristo" not JesuScristo

I read it thank you. He was explaining that her use of spanish words in the chorus meant that she was talking about the law and the government so she didn't understand that and felt like a foreigner. You said it was a reach because she used Spanish in the entire song. It's not, it goes with the same meaning, she used Spanish in the entire song to reinforce this (it would have been weird to just use two Spanish words in the chorus, the meaning would have been weaker).

If you were talking about the guy who said it was racist, you should have made it clearer in your post and you had an opportunity to make it clear later in the thread when the person you quoted answered you.

If you don't want people to quote you for wrong reasons, make your original post clearer, and if you made a mistake, edit it so people won't notice that mistake in the entire thread. This is just a 3-page long thread, but you can't expect people to read a whole controversial thread with 30 pages, if they see someone they disagree with, they're going to quote him if they think they can debate this idea.

Edit : oh and also

I highlighted the word 'languagano' and made my reply that it was 'language, oh no'. I then went on to say 'as for the jesus christo', thus signposting that I had departed from my first point, and explained that this was simply because she was pronouncing it as a Spanish person would.

I did not once comment on the intention of the song, the intention on her speaking Spanish or whether the song was racist. Therefore, your response was completely unrelated to mine.

I understand your point now that you explained it. But the way I read it, it seemed that you were just discrediting his analysis by saying that the Spanish part in the chorus was just there because the whole song had Spanish in it. That's how I interpreted the "as for" : because you said that "languagono" was actually "language, oh no", then there was only "Jesus Christo" left to prove his point.

Re-read your post with that way of thinking in mind and you'll understand what I mean.
