I do occasionally eat salad and potatoes, but I feel bad about it every time Haha if you read a bunch of comments on vegan videos and articles you will find your comment is pretty unoriginal. The meat heads are like drones repeating the same bs argument. For a start animals get fed on plants so by eating meat you kill many more plants than eating them directly. It is just bs coz fruits are gifts and don't involve killing the plant. You can also eat many plants like basil for example when you pluck some leaves it continues growing course that means you should go into gardening and stop supporting industrial agriculture where they kill the plants. Anyway very funny to see the comments like yours from apparently loads of different people like they just repeat what ever bs told them by some clown and think they are so smart and original. As if a meat head cares about plants they are just being spiteful and condescending with such comment but it is good to laugh at how unoriginal they are. Makes total sense. 🙄 I suppose there is a big difference between killing animals and plants but plants don't actually need to be killed so it is a false premise in the first place and vegans shouldn't accept that premise. Most times I see people answer this like you did but that involves accepting the premise that plants need to die to be vegan which isn't necessarily the case. Then they can be like oh well rainforests arn't sentient so there is no harm in logging it all vegans said so. See how cunning they are? it is a trap comment the desired response is to say it is just a plant so they can have vegans supporting the idea there is no issue genetically modifying plants or destroying the seeds and diversity. who ever came up with it is a nefarious mind and it must be someone powerful to be able to propagate that comment all over the web. Mirrion Rizzons 12,757
i tried to go vegan last year and i was in my PPE (pre public exam, so a fake exam but under exam conditions) and being vegan meant I had A LOT of fibre. It always astonishes me how vegans and vegetarians don't have a sense of humor. Sure, it was a cheap joke, but it sure got you angry. For the record, I do think that animals killed for meat should have good and happy lives until the end, but I'm a biologist. I see the beauty and horror in all life, regardless if it feels pain. I don't think some life is inherently worth more than other life. If someone killing something I've never seen means I can eat delicious food, then I don't care if it was a cow or a head of lettuce. I do think life can have personally importance. Take the hypothetical "a train is coming and you have the power to stop it from killing 5 people, but instead it kills one person" question. A normal utilitarian person would save the 5 people. But lets say the one person it kills is someone you intimately know, but the 5 people are all strangers. I, personally, would save the person I knew. It would be a selfish choice, and it wouldn't be for the greatest good for the world, but it would be the greatest good for me. I can still feel bad for the other 5, but I wouldn't regret my choice. I do think being vegan is a noble pursuit, and you are right, there are many vegan alternatives that are nonlethal to even plant life, but it takes a lot of work and planning and dedications to live that way (just look at the first vegans, the Jainists). And I'd rather use that time and energy towards my education and career to help other people, who I empathize with more easily than I do farm animals. In honor of this thread, however, I think I'll have some oysters for lunch, which I'm told is vegan friendly, especially because they don't have a central nervous system. Oysters are high in colesterol and are filter feeders bioaccumulating lots of toxins. See there is huge amounts of marketing to try and convince you that the products are pleasurable to consume. Nothing could be further from the truth. You are making totally skewed arguments that contradict your premise. You say the greater good is you helping people and not wasting time on food but it is doubtful you would be able to help anyone with such irrational thought processes. You claim it would be a lot of work to not kill plants and use that as an excuse to eat animals. It is not more work to eat fruit it is less work than cooking. less washing up too so you've got a false premise there same like you had a false premise that plants needed to die. and you could just eat plain vegan without all these falacies. you said you thought the animals should have a good and happy life but said nothing about measures you had taken to ensure that so in reality they have a life of torture and suffering and you just chat **** about what you would like them to have. bottom line if you want to help people you have to help yourself first and a good way to do that is to eat healthy. these regurgitations are a sign you have been eating too much bs. you could do more harm than good. the whole argument about killing 5 people vs 1 well I don't even want to get into it. lets just say I wouldn't trust someone who made a lesser evil argument. "All I see is non rapists calling rapists bad people? " well no they actually call rape wrong and bad. your not some victim of vegans calling you bad. your just trying to bully veganss into shutting up so you can abuse and mass murder animals without anyone saying anything about it. vegans who speak up for animals are good and respectable people trying to help you and the animals. it is you who are in the wrong not only killing and abusing animals but attempting to persuade other people to attack those trying to help them. There is vegans and vegans that still eat meat who care about the animals but still buy into some arguments made by carnists and then there are the actual bad people the carnists trying to cause harm to peoples health and put them under the influence of death and destruction and get people to hate on vegans.
