However, If i mention lady gaga to any of my STRAIGHT MALE friends, they all go on about how much they loved applause (maybe cause it was on GTA idk and no one goes on about how they didn't like her in 2013. Tbh they all go "I miss the old gaga, you know the one who sang poker face and applause. She's a bit boring now" - about 2018Ga so i feel like her image wasn't necessarily the problem during the ARTPOP era, but more the promotion. The GP just like catchy hits. A feud or an artist's image seems to not affect how much they like a song. If it's catchy, its catchy. For example: Migos - homophobes but people still listen to them Tyalor swift - everyone claims to hate her and her drama but then they got snatched with LWYMMD Ofc image is somewhat important, like poor katy perry last year. But gaga was probably more chilled image wise during ARTPOP than born this way and back in 2013 i don't ever remember seeing a negative article about her until the ARTPOP first week sales was announced Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

The media also turned on her but both Applause and DWUW were hits, DWUW even without a video so people still liked her songs.
