Ok, so there are lots of artists whether their Pop, Rock, Metal, Country, Jazz, Hip Hop, Reggae etc. whom have distinctive voices. Rock Artists like Bon Jovi and Pop Princesses like Britney and Christina have those “instantly recognizable, you can pick them out from a crowd” tone in their voices, which are “distinctive”.

So is Gagas distinctive?

-  I would say so. Whenever I play Gaga my family knows who’s singing it.

And Is it as distinctive as the others are?

Yeah I would say she is, obviously we're biased.

But my mother instantly recognises her voice all the time and struggles with voices like Katy's, Rihanna's, etc.

She just has this beautiful raspy tone in her voice that's so soothing :kara: I love her  so much

Look honestly no; I feel like most non-gaga fans wouldn't know her voice; it's not like Nicki Minaj or Halsey or anything

Well hmmmm let’s see because My friends aren’t Gaga fans at all but when I put her on they instantly know it’s her. And Halsey isn’t really “distinctive” though. Nicki on the other hand yes. And haha I find this funny coming from a username like “Blue Madonna”:poot:

I want to say yes but then I also think about the times some of her most dedicated fans have been bopping to a song recorded in a twitter insider's basement thinking it was Gaga

Yes it is. It terms of live vocals, she unlike most other females, naturally has a deeper singing voice and nasally. But when it comes to studio tracks, I can see her be mistaken for another artist, The Cure sounds Mariah Careyish.

It depends on the song/era.

For example, a song like Just Dance (with Gaga’s voice auto tuned heavily) doesn’t allow for her vocal uniqueness to shine. I honestly had no idea that Gaga even sang that song for a long time. However, in a song like Million Reasons, it’s pretty clear that it’s Gaga singing that song.

I guess distinctive should really be defined, because to a lot of us, her voice is distinctive because we love it...Overall I think Gaga is a bit of a vocal chameleon. She alters her voice a bit from song to song. She has an adaptive and theatrical voice.

When I think of distinctive, I think of someone like Bruce Springsteen or Stevie Nicks. There is no mistaking either of those voices regardless of the songs that they are on.

But I think her ability to adapt her voice in so many ways also makes her distinctive. So I don't know...

i honestly think rih has the most distinctive voice of any pop girl. just cause her vocalizing style is very her own, and her accent shines through a lot.

no its reductive :stalkga:

OT: I think so. I haven’t really heard a voice like her. Maybe her talking voice isn’t as distinctive, but her singing voice definitely is.

Listen to LoveGame and then to the piano version of Joanne.

I can see why it would be difficult for people to recognise her.

Wait but isn’t Gagas natural voice the soft girlish tone in Red and Blue?
