saispas 309
i mean, really, it could be about anything...
Doot 2
TBH I think Gaga got possessed during her Fame ad shoot, and this album is her crying out for help.
Mus 7,883
To me, I always picture the song in Joe’s perspective, like it’s him saying that to his sister (Joanne), and also to his daughter (Gaga), at the same time What’s in a reverse-warholian expedition? mamo 19,250
this might not be the exact intention of the song itself but the beauty about music (in-particular gaga's lyrics) is that it can be interpreted in so many personal ways. Ï could be your girlfriend for the weekend...

It's no secret that Gaga is incredibly devoted to us. She even started calling herself " Mother Monster". She took all of those lost and broken kids and loved them like they were her own. Like any good "mama", she loved and doted on us and made us the center of her universe. It must have been an incredibly devestating blow to realize that some of the Little Monsters she so lovingly "raised" in a way could turn on her like that. Thankfully those monsters are few and far between I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you
SwissMonster 29,120
First time a GGD thread made me cry (But I don’t think she thought about it ) SwissMonster®️ - Creating controversy since 1999
Regina George 59,387
Amm no.. song it self has pretty elaborate theme and that’s just it. It’s named after her dead aunt and it is about her dead aunt. Let’s not over analyze it when there’s literally no need for that..

Mario Roberto Flores 100
For me, Joanne is a song made from the point of view of the LG Dad. Each verse, they are as if they came from the mouth of Joe Germanotta. It's a farewell song from a brother to his sister. This means that Joanne is also a tribute to his father. PlanetChromatica 2,266
She literally says in 5ft 2 that the song is written about Joanne for her father and grandmother.
Bradley 59,311
I'm pretty sure it's about her aunt but that's a beautiful and sad interpretation.
