Hey monsters!!

So I was listening to some Justin bieber's songs :poot: and I realized that the lyrics were not amazingly good so I thought maybe he wrote his songs himself but I always thought he did not. Then I checked on wikipedia for "Purpose" and I saw that there are so many songwriters :duck: Like, for "Company", there are ELEVEN writers, ELEVEN!! And almost all his songs are made by 5-10 writers.

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purpose

Honestly I find it ridiculous, like, he's singing things that he did not even write, this is not his story, this is not him that you listen to when you listen to JB's songs. I think it's sad cause he receives all the credit but well... :awkney:

Am I the only one who is shook by that?? Is that normal??
Usually, how many writers work on a song?

I have to say that this absolutely normal. The most artist have a lot of co-writers and also a lot of producers. It’s insane... and yeah some tracks even then sound like sh** :poot:

Why do some people have problems with this? Who cares how many people have written on something? They work as a team, they work for him, these are still his songs, it's about him, about his world.

Gaga also has a team of people helping her with things. Mark, Bloodpop and Hillary Lindsey helped her with songs, aren't those her songs anymore? It's the endproduct that is important and the singer standing up for that product.

I just saw that Gaga usually has between 2-4 songwriters including herself and 4-6 producers including herself. this is what I call an artist.

Like seriously, Justin bieber or any other singers like him, get out and let talented people take your place

I think it's quite usual but, like you, I don't really appreciate it.

I need to write my own songs, to tell my story.

I think it’s  about artists who have more then 10 songwriters or co writers. I think it’s ridiculous to have so many different people for just one song.

The thing is she's still always very much involved in the songwriting process and she gets to say what she wants to sing about but when a singer just buys someone's lyrics that they didn't write themselves at all... I mean, i think that's less authentic and honest.

There's a "slight" difference between having 3 co-writers and 11 writers (w/o you being one of them). It's just the same as Kendall and Kylie Jenner publish a book, but they're not the writers, the story was written by ghost-writers and the Jenners were put as the authors for promotion.

the problem is that, there are hundreds of talented artists that can write, produce and sing and they're overshadowed by those big "teams", probably because they chose to put ahead the singer with the nicest face

I kinda get where your coming from, but I think every artist has their own appeal. Maybe Bieber fans bash Gaga for not being able to dance like him. The world would be a boring place  with just only heartfelt ballads or just bubbly songs about love.

Well, it's a good thing we have on GGD so many insiders, who know how much effort all these not so worthy artist have put into their songs. There is always a reason why person A get's famous and person B not. And you should not forget, why Gaga became famous in the first place, because she was also just a product of the industry, fyi.

Gaga wrote almost every songs on BTW by herself. do you consider those songs like boring, bubbly, ..???

The best is when the artist writes his own songs. If the DJ is credited too it's ok. 10 people writing the same song is lame (hey Beyoncé)

I literally said none of those things:awkney:

I mean that different people like different artists for different reasons. So you're judging JB as an artist on his songwriting abilities, but that's just one aspect of the craft. I can also judge Adele for not dancing and J.Lo for not singing about politics.
