not asher613 661
its rape because we teach our kids to obey adults. if any adult in this country has sex with any 13 year old he is using a system which is designed to protect and preserve the innocence of youth as a system of control for his own pleasure. he is preying on a youth's trust, immaturity, and societal disadvantage. no matter how mature, the world tells young people to follow rules they don't understand without hope for personal gain and to listen to adults. truancy is not enforced to full adulthood because in rural and urban America many youth's left school around 16 to establish what amounts to an adult life, and that is what our age of consent reflects in many places. if you have to be in school, you have to listen to adults, and that dynamic can be abused and it undermines our society's educational standards and corrupts our developmental safeguards. some parents might want for their child to become involved in a relationship with an older man especially if he is influential. that is not their choice to make. our sense of decency stands because it is held up by all of us as a society. such a parent is complicit in a crime we all rightly know to be uniquely abbhorent and damaging. If some backwards European country has a different standard of education or a different age for consent or a different attitude about a parent's choice to support their childs relationship, we might disagree, and we might know that not much is expected from people that come from those places, especially women, but they are working with a different system and the kids are not necessarily victims to their world. it might be too common to call them that. so instead of saying, "I became the sex object for a maladjsuted adult male at a young age because he was powerful," they might say, "I was lucky enough to get [not rape] molested by a good one." ...not rape because it is supported by the wider society. The idea that we would never want to be judged by European standards is definitely true. They think #metoo and #timesup are absolute childish bullshit. they don't have any sense that women can legitimately expect more from life. tarantino sounds pretty apathetic. i have no idea why he would need to wrap his head around a European moral standard and apologize for polanski, maybe it's a personal thing. i doubt he's a rapist, though, and I agree with what he said about the word rape. Rape means lots of different things. some amount to bad decision making/impulse control and some are the worst violation I can imagine. there should be better language distinction. Dayum 240
I think in today's world where p0rn is so accessible that putting an age limited is outdated. The true question is whether the other party truly understands what they're consenting to, and not whether someone at a certain age can never be able to give consent. In saying that, I agree that this is a very perverted mind. The 40 year old is clearly preying on the child. No doubt the kid did not know what she was consenting to.
