GagasPussy 312
Lady Gaga was first embraced and supported by the gay community in the initial beginning of her career. The LGBT is the reason why she gained stardom and had radio success when mainstream radio would not play her or the media did not understand her art and style. Gaga style ad persona appeals to gay culture. She is very theatrical, over the top, sexually expressive, and a liberating entity. Born Thi Way solidified her as a gay icon and alienated straight people for good.

A Hybrid 11,049
Doesn’t have much to do with Born This Way. I see two reasons: 1. Gays feel different around straight boys and they can’t relate to any of them even though everyone pushes us to do “normal” straight things. Gaga celebrates being different with her looks, songs and speeches. We can relate to her because all gays suffer from being different. 2. Straight guys are strong, confident, dominant and they’re all these things most of us fail to be for some part of our lives. So when Gaga dominates as a female and shows that she is even more powerful than those guys, it makes us feel strong. Rhiannon74 34
Straight female over here. I do understand why she attracted a lot of members of the LGBT+ community though. Personally as a straight female what attracted me to Gaga was how she as a female was able to be feminine and sensitive at the same time while being fierce and just super courageous. I think I was raised believing you can't really be both, so she pretty much showed me that it's ok for me to be the overly sensitive girl that I am and that does not make me weak. In fact, I can use that as my strength. I remember seeing her live and she got really emotional that she started crying at one point. That really shook me to the core in a positive way because I was raised to believe that my tears are something I should be ashamed of and something I should hide.... and here she was crying in front of thousands of people, looking more powerful and stronger than anyone else in the venue. To some extent I believe being an outcast may increase the odds to becoming gay.
