The song was released on January 23. I think the song represents that Maren could really succeed in the genre of pop. Her vocals are reminiscent to those vocals of current singer Alessia Cara, Hailee Seinfeld, etc when singing pop. Maren is known for her country hits "My Church","80s Mercedes", and "I Could Use a Love Song". "My Church" is certified platinum and earned her a Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance last year. Maren is very progressive for a typical country star. It's pretty clear that she's a liberal. Posting this when Obama left office (and received flack from country fans for it) She has also openly voiced support for LGBT people and reproductive rights She said in a 2017 interview: “I think if you listen to my album you could probably gather that I am not the most gung-ho conservative ideology-leaning person,” she offers. “I care about women’s rights and reproductive rights and my gay friends being able to keep their marriages official. It's hard to realize that many country acts are actually pretty liberal when you look into it. I really love the new song with Zedd too. However, I kind of wish Carrie was the one in the song. haha.
