That’s the thing, they’re movies. The actors all walk away fine at the end of the day, he was watching real children being abused in real life. Who knows how those children are today. I see the point you’re trying to make but I just don’t think it’s comparable

That’s quite sad because I really liked him on Glee, and yes he was a pedophile but I don’t think that taking your own life is the answer. 

I doubt that he would have get better (even with best medical treatment) because pedophilia is a terrible disease.

Liking child **** is so much more different. These are ACTUAL babies that are being ****ed by grown-ups. If you watch that, you are supporting this content and encouraging this to be continued to be made. You cannot compare the two..

I think what people are getting upset about is where do we draw the line. I physically cannot feel sorry for someone that engages in this lifestyle because I can't get over the incredible feelings of sadness I feel for those poor children. Yes, Mark had issues, but our society is so worried about looking out for the abuser or the criminal and trying to make them better or find reasons to feel sorry for them, and we sometimes forget about the kids that never had a choice. Mark had a choice as to whether he pursued this. These babies who were abused countless times did not.

Look, I fully support getting pedophiles the help they need, and it would be great if we could find a way to get rid of those attractions, and I would feel entirely empathetic for him had he killed himself over his urges. But he didn’t. He killed himself because he was going to jail for downloading and distributing 50,000 images and videos of child ****. There are real children in those files and for doing that he deserved to be locked up. Did he deserve to die for his illness? No. Did he deserve to die for the crimes he committed? Well that’s subjective.

 All I hope is for more discussion so that the people who have this illness get the help they need without going through so much stigma and I'm talking about people like this guy who never touched a kid in real life ( let's hope) but yes actual kid rapists can rot tho. But the key here is to educate and help those who have not yet.

Ya'll, we can't make excuses for pedophiles. We can't. It's something you just can't pursue. He made a bad choice, and has paid his consequences. There are many people who feel dark thoughts and work very hard to never act on them. He acted on feelings that indirectly affects 50,000 children. This isn't something to be taken lightly, and isn't something we can just say "Awh, I feel bad because he has bad mental health." 

I feel bad for people who suffer through it. I do not feel bad for people who dive into the lifestyle and choose to have 50,000 innocent children being abused on their computer..

That then goes into the death penalty question. I think jail needs more of a focus on rehabilitation than JUST punishment. Criminals can be productive members of society. I just think we need to help victims and treat criminals. Some won't ever be treated but it's better to offer and provide help than just letting them rot.

There are helplines and groups advocating treatment, although it's not that widespread. There are some therapies and not all will immediately report you for disclosing unless there is an immediate perceived threat. Also, there are safe spaces on the Internet and LOTS of knowledge on that can be used to help educate them, aka people know what is illegal and what is not. I acknowledge that there are issues surrounding pedophiles getting help though.

However, I disagree with "how do you expect those people to control their actions"? Their attraction towards children is only that - an attraction towards children. Just like we can control our sexual advances, people with this attraction CAN also control theirs (unless coupled with other disorders, but in this case I'm talkin' plain and simple pedophilia: attraction towards children). Especially in today's climate and with access to the Internet, they are aware that acting on it is illegal, and many DO control their actions and don't assault children or download child **** (which as I previously mentioned is not a victimless crime and hurts children).

For those that do act on it, they need to be held accountable for their actions. Is that sad? Maybe. But that's reality. Mark needed to be held accountable for his possession of 50,000 images of children being sexually abused.
