I tried to see if a pic came up in the doc to have an 'ah ha' moment. I bet youve all seen it and im late but thats something thats always on my mind. Maybe she loved country music, if she did it would make more sense and be more emotional. If she didn't then yes the whole concept was stupid there must be links that we dont know, shes a bright young lady. Other sites and news agencies already thought she was crazy or using her dead aunts name for a bonkers theme. It would've been nice for it to be explained in the booklet with photos. some of us would've been in tears and it would've shut the others up. This is your dead aunt you never met and you are gonna write a record about how its meaningful to you...and of the 15 concepts you can think about her it's that you "guess" she could have masturbated and you need to let your fans know that....and as you say...all teenagers masturbate...so whats unique about Joanne? Again...fishing for something to reachily tie in but again...not really specific or nuanced at all to Joanne or her legacy. Which is why I argue this isn't that brilliant of a record and that its a bit messy and could have been a shorter...much shorter record. Or maybe a better fleshed out one. ARTPOP songwise didn't exactly relate to the theme. I agree which is why I listed The Fame Monster and Born This Way as her strongest concept records. The Fame does more than Joanne does, especially pretty brilliantly for her first pop release. The visuals, the lyrics, and the concepts harken back to Hollywood glitz, money, and campyness. She talks about how she feels her aunt Joanne is part of her and that Joanne is part of her name. The song Joanne is from the perspective of her father, as well as Gaga's view of how the death has affected her family. Most of the rest however is about Gaga's life and healing herself and her family. That's just my interpretation anyway. Basically, I feel it's called Joanne because, I'm sure she said this too, that song is the heart of the album, it's the one that links her family and her self the most and really sets the reflective theme of the album. It's a really appropriate title and the only other titles I could have seen working would be Just Another Day or Angel Down but I think they just wouldn't quite as well Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
