Beautiful and all, but why 'Million (times) Reasons'?

I know...I was literally crying with her Joanne performance and then million reasons started and I was like oh hell no! Well, guess I'd have to listen to this one again.

BTW Her vocals were on point as always that's why she's my queen but that last unnecesary note :duck:

What if tomorrow I see you again? Should I say that I used to love you?

She wants to make a ballad her signature song. Therefore, she plays it in major events. Simple as that. It's not about playing it safe, it's about building her new image, something she has been doing for the last three years.

If she performed any other song, including Joanne, the impact would be minimal. Performing a song that has slowly become more and more recognisable as a "Gaga" song will definitely pull her off from the "Bad Romance singer" void.

I thought about doing a thread about that today, the thought struck me when I heard the public's reaction to Million Reasons when she started singing it. It's definitely becoming one of her signature songs. She doesn't want to be the "pa-pa-pa-poker face" or the "rah rah b*tch" in the eyes of the public, and that's understandable.

The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic!

made no sense, especially since the while night was supposed to be about Joanne (the person), so only a few lines of the song made no sense... and it was supposed to be promoted as a charity single....

It's not like she wants to promote the song/album because the people who watched the Grammys are the same people who watched the "Million Reasons" performance at the AMAs and Victoria Secrets. If not there, then for sure at the Super Bowl. All the ones that want the song already have it.

The songs gone to like #30 on itunes tho :poot:

I mean, I wish she performed Joanne too, the girl needed the exposure really. But I have to say, that Million Reasons performance was her best yet.

#30 sells....a very low amount.

I think it's because it was nominated + GP knows that song and it was just fine to perform that song.

And also, it seems like she's enjoying performing it and for as long as she likes that, I'm happy for her.

I doubt there's a deeper explanation why.

REALITY

I think that it was mostly meant to serve as a nod to the Time's Up movement. Right before she sang the song, she said "Time's up," and if you really think about it, the lyrics of Million Reasons actually apply to the movement really well.

Million Reasons is the only successful song from Joanne ( obviously ) and it was lucky and unlikely that we'd get a hit this era so that's her only option. Plus that's the last perfromance of the era she can't excite us with new song from the album or add a concept and ideas to a song for only once as it's the end of the era.

"Angel Down" was my first choice. But this album is a personal story for her, and she hasstuck by that story throughout the entire cycle. It would be odd to make a political statement randomly at the end like that. Hopefully next era is more socially conscious.

And I know you all are tired of MR, but "Joanne" is fairly boring song. MR saved this performance, and the audience reaction when she started shows it.
