I actually agree :stalkga: Female leads need to "step it up". The only female artist that truly has done it is Lorde with Melodrama (and it was incredibly snubbed, so that man totally lost there).

But besides Lorde, no female artist really has delivered an exceptional album this last year.

This this this!!

This isn't about sexism, why does everyone make it about that. It's about a committee that are completely out of touch with music  :saladga:

I'm not saying males are doing a better job, Shape of You is not Grammy worthy. In fact, I don't think any nominees this year were Grammy worthy. I'm saying females aren't releasing the best either.

And males?

The male artists that were awarded tonight made mediocre albums with generic trash pandering to the GP.

So please

Mariah was right. Queen mimi always spilling the TEA. They only invite certain artists for views.

I bet you next year they'll overcompensate, not unlike they did this year. Talk about being 'behind', as this year they had the opportunity to reward women who have sung openly about abuse. Such a strong year for women in music, it annoys me that they'll probably heavily reward women next year when the competition isn't as strong. Even if they wanted to heavily reward more Rap or R&B artists in the general categories, it's just questionable how SZA goes home empty handed...

It's all subjective, so not even sure if it's worth debating. That being said, Rainbow and Praying should have been included in Album of the Year and Song of the Year respectively. Other female projects that I found quite experimental and strong (and released within the eligibility period):

Lana del Rey's Lust for Life

SZA's CTRL

Lady Gaga's Joanne

Tove Lo's Lady Wood

Demi Lovato's Tell Me You Love Me

Dua Lipa's Dua Lipa

The list could go on, they're all subjective. But to say what Kesha or Lady Gaga or Lana del Rey or SZA released during the eligibility period is any less than 24K Magic is a bit of a laugh. There were plenty of strong female albums this year, most just happened to be in the pop-genre which is not what the Grammys intended to reward this year.

If you look at the last year in music, males dominated radio and the charts in general. The argument could be made that they were in touch with the current music environment.

SZA and Kesha to Name a few. What the ****? 2017 was great for  female music, and so was 2016.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

That still doesn't prove sexism?
