Tonight was the final "new thing" to happen this era...and with that, we can bow down and pray that Gaga feels she ended it well. I really feel like Gaga lying down on the wings like that...like an Angel Down....singing the two most meaningful tracks of the album was the farewell to the pink hat she needed. So the ever grueling question comes to mind? What's seriously next? I know this sounds bizarre....but Gaga looked eerily sad tonight. Almost a bit...reflective....inward...and it feels like there was a sort of acknowledgment in her aura that said "I'm done for a while". Up until just this past week I was truly convinced Gaga was going to pump a "Cure'esque" album out this year, but I feel like, in many ways...Gaga is done with music for a while and has perhaps even accepted that she never is meant to have the Madonna/Britney level success....that she told her story...and that (although I don't think she will retire), she is now interested in moving in a different direction in life. Promoting music just doesn't seem to come as number one to her anymore, and she seems to (I mean this is no insulting way) to have kind of found her comfortable place and eased in with crowd. In other words, what Gaga wears, does, and portrays herself as was controversial in 2009. In 2018, it's ordinary. If anything that's a compliment, that her influence has had impact. Gaga didn't change her vibe, the industry around her did. But that also points out one really big thing: we aren't having a discussion about her being so different anymore. And artists with a lot of vigor and passion still, have always strived to be different...to push things differently. It just doesn't feel like Gaga is doing that anymore. It's not boring, though....just typical 2018 pop. And to me that really says that Gaga isn't entirely wanting to be so Gaga anymore. Maybe one day Gaga will infact want to jump back in the hype train, but it feels like her and now alot of her fanbase has come to grips with this one concept: Gaga is over for a little while. Maybe not forever....but for now, Gaga has cemented herself, has nothing left to prove, and above all, is a living legend. We don't need to give a **** about number ones, charts, what people might think, endless promo, and radio deals anymore. It's bitter as ****.
