Carrie, Taylor and Miranda were the only three females who could break through for a hit for several years. Country Music is a boys club. Beyonce didn't do an acoustic album. This means you might have females have a few hits and then fade off into obscurity for example. People like Shania, The Dixie Chicks, or Faith Hill (for example) were direct beneficiaries of much of the groundwork that I would argue was paved by Patsy Cline (1950s), Loretta Lynn (1960s), and Dolly Parton especially (1970s-early 1990s).
