While the business cycle varies slightly each time and different factors make exact predictions hard to make, the International Monetary Funds projects the next recession will be in 2020

The IMF does not believe it will be anywhere near as severe as the 2008 crisis because even though the stock market valuations are very rich and could lead to a big crash, other imbalances in the general economy are not severe like it was in the last economic cycle

"It will be a much more mild recession. A temporary pull back on growth"

However the IMF also warns that if it were to be more severe than expected, Governments have less amuniton left to fight a failing economy than before as many Governments have too much debt for big stimulus programs and interest rates are still too low to be able to make a bit monetary policy easing

any info on whether the US is in a bubble rn?

I'd say only in the equity market. Maybe not so much in the macro-economic aspect at least not yet

In 2005-2007 bubbles formed in the financial markets AND in the real economy which was worse

seems pretty obvious to me, but will we keep growing till 2020? Hard to believe that imo.

Anyway, time to start buying gold and silver.

Will cryptocurrencies have anything to do with it? I remember the credit leverage during the dotcom bubble, imo something similar will happen.

And well, sure it will happen during Trumps watch

blaming Trump having anything to do with the upcoming crisis is foolish

did we recover? I think its still going on, at least in a social status

BTW: Volatiliy being at almost ATL and the huge amount of leverage being used in all the stock markets make me think this one may be bigger than some experts want to claim. Bots will be margin called like never before

Yeah I think so too.  The impact surely extended into the 2010s, being one of the bigger economic downturns in recent history.

The impacts on wages, job quality and employee confidence have dragged

That's the effects tho. To say your in recession the economy has to be in a state of contraction which rarely lasts more than 12-18 months tops. The 2008 recession lasted 21 months so more than usual

When u talk about a downturn tho it's the recession itself plus the period of time of recovery when economy is still weak

The last recession in Canada in 2015 lasted 6 months only. It was so mild that they called it a "technical recession". By definition the economy was in recession because GDP shrank when oil prices crashed but in practice terms most of the Country outside Oil Producing areas didn't feel any different

So recession is a technicality. The actual state of the economy is different. An economy can be strong or weak when outside of recession
