And y'all seem to forget Gaga was heavily criticized after her Golden Globes win, most people bashing it saying she bought it. And no, not just haters but experts and critics

The important critics (aka the ones who vote) thoughts that she deserves it, that's what matters.

 

If it was after this then where was she to buy that deserving Oscar too

but how is that realistic without even having the trailer yet  if the movie was released, i wouldn't really mind if you said this but the only people who have seen it have been those that attended a screening

people said gaga would never be a star, they were wrong

def jam thought gaga would be a bad investment, they were wrong

critics said bad romance was trash, they were wrong and bad romance shook sh*t up (bye kesha )

when people heard joanne was "country" they freaked out and said it would flop, the album went to number 1, was the 2nd best selling female album of 2016 and nabbed 2 grammy noms 

my point is: wait until the movie is out cus it's unrealistic to say for sure if she'll win anything or not without even knowing what you're talking about

Whatever they are, these are the people that matters in award shows, they make the most important decision, and they also have arguments for their votes, nobody cares about what that random person/critic says cause they wont change nothing

The real problem with the reception of the movie is that Gaga doesn't have a good reputation as an actress. I don't care about the Golden Globe, her acting skills have never been praised. We can still hope for the music tho, that's another story...

I think the movie could be good and very well liked by the GP (which could be good for Gaga). But movies liked by GP don't usually mean they are oscar worthy (and let's be honest, most of the times it's not the case. Oscar movies are usually pretty niche and disliked by GP)... at least that's what I think now. Of course I'd be happily surprised if the movie does get recognizion among awards but I just don't see that happening.

I think Gaga is a good actress (for someone who just debuted in this acting world and won a GG) I don't really worry about this in ASIB

I might slip here but I actually think ASIB could be really really huge for Gaga. And some of you are really underestimating the huge visibility she is going to get.

If she does bad, it's fine and it's what everyone expects but otherwise... And the hype that has brought up is quite impressive.

I used to be reluctant of it being a success, but ngl I'm lowkey perched now.

It's not only a liddo's duty to go watch the movie in cinema, but also to drag all your family and friends and force them to watch it, or at least force them to buy the tickets so it contributes to the box office.
