If she wanted to go for the charts she would have stuck to the original LG5 that was planned with RedOne. There's a reason why she went in this particular direction and you can also definitely see it in the Five Foot Two documentary. I'm not saying that she doesn't care about the charts because obviously every artist does, but the direction she's going in is very purposeful. Piano is what Gaga does best (not guitar obviously ). Now she's able to but her heart and soul in the Grammy performance. Can't wait! I just hope for Gaga Joanne does chart higher, the song means a lot to her. And she means a lot to us. She took us on an emotional journey that was about what was personal to her, never about the charts. I think putting out a video for Joanne to end the era is a beautiful thing. I don't care about DIC as the bop that never got it's day because this album wasn't about the bops. I'm just glad she didn't cave in to little monsters meltdowns. Gaga looks gorgeous in this vid I'm already crying right now ... I actually enjoyed much more this era than the ARTPOP mess . Joanne era was full of truly emotional lyrics/perfomances, we had Super Bowl/The Cure, we had Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, we had a amazing Tour and quality Music Videos. She needed to channel her pain into her art. Gaga will be back to the standard you expect next time, I'm sure of it. This was a cathartic healing process for her that she very much needed. SKANK 14,288 Posted January 25, 2018 Share Posted January 25, 2018 I love the song Joanne, but we don't have to pretend it wasn't was co-written and co-produced by Ronson and Bloodpop, two internationally successful hit makers. It's a personal pop song, on a person pop album, which was crafted to be popular on the charts. The schmaltzy video and power ballad combo has given a lot of artists chart sucess. Those were the "personal" Gaga albums to me, where she used to actually write the songs. Sure, it mentioned her alcohol use, but the approach was different.
