Death Note The Movie (the most awful thing I have seen)

I was going to write a big ass article about how awful this movie was. I rewatched the entire anime just to tear this movie apart, but it is just so awful, I'm pretty sure I could write 10k words and never describe how truly awful this movie was.

Honestly, Netflix should've just made some changes and rebranded Death Note as a Final Destination film or something original.

This movie was not okay.

Anyone else wanna talk about how awful it was?

Really wasn't that bad, remakes/reboots have never offended me. I'm a fan of both anime and comic book movie adaptions. Why does there always have to be such a harsh, defined line between them?

I think the trailer was enough for me to realize that I don't need to watch the whole thing :poot:

I know some who haven’t seen the anime and say it was somewhat enjoyable but when you actually watch the source material then yeah this movie was bad :lana:

Please watch the anime as well, it’s incredible!

As for me, I refuse to watch this movie because I loved the anime so much. I don’t want to be angry like I was with The Last Airbender.

For me, it's usually because they never really do anything... good. Everything is watered down, and everything suffers.

Death Note, at its core, its message is very relatable,  despite said message being very Japanese. Nothing about it really needed to be Americanized.

That is usually the problem with most anime adaptations, is that the messages are lost. If not the message, then the magic or feel.

Then keep it that way. The anime is far more serious, everyone has mostly different personalities, and there are way more characters.

Yeah. I knew the main problem was going to be Mia/Misa, but damn... I didn't know it was going to be that much of a change.

It is a given that 99% of Western remake of Anime will be terrible cos these producers tried to add Western values in it so it connects with its Western viewers.

I don’t even bother to watch that particular Netflix show. I know it will be terrible after watching the trailers alone.

I don’t get into anime easily. I really only have watched Steinsgate and Oraun fully. And like studio ghibli movies. Especially Howls moving Castle

Head Empty

Their worst mistake is that they removed everything that made the original main character appealing, intimidating and interesting. If they had kept his original personality (and casted differently), the other minor plot changes wouldn't have been as big of a deal.

I can see how this particular adaptation would be extra bad. I don't know a single thing about the anime, but if it's a beloved & unique piece of work....this movie is absolutely not that. It's an okay movie...but really generic. Basically a teen coming of age tale. The twist doesn't really add too much tbh.
