Was she asked, and she declined? Was she even asked? Was she scheduled and then pulled out the last minute because of the Whitney Houston death (she was wearing funeral like attire after all)? Grammys didn't quite had the habit of asking artists to perform many times in a row (Gaga is kinda breaking that by performing for the FOURTH time this year ). Also her hype was fading (she ended 2011 with no one talking about her with You and I and Marry The Night not becoming huge hits) and Adele was much more the interest of the night. Besides she was in BTWB rehearsals and wasn't promoting singles anymore. It just had more artists to appear and give screentime since Gaga already had too many in 2010 and 2011.
