Pollstar didn't have the rest of her boxscores, so they estimated, and they underestimated a lot.

Katy will outgross Joanne World Tour, because she has more dates, and actually her tour is a real world tour.

If each ticket was $10 it means 2.8 million people saw the show.

When will JWT?

I hate Katy, but I can't drag her for this, or else I'd be dragging myself 10X harder. I mean, I could only dream of making 1/28th of that money:icega:

Actually, pollstar does have her boxscores and its at $28 million, because her tour isn't selling, tickets have been sold at a very low price, which is why she had grossed only $28 million. js

You post the most stats out of anyone though. :awkney:

Damn. That's even worse than I predicted. Now we know why about 93% of her individual boxscores haven't been made public. She's done 48 shows so far and just 7 of them have been reported on. And most shockingly of all, none of them were a sell-out. Most of them were over 2,000 tickets under the bare minimum required for a sellout. Even her one date at the tiny Mohegan Sun Arena pulled in just 6,334 people, which was 220 tickets under a sell-out. She couldn't even sell out that tiny little amount. For comparison purposes, Gaga sold out 2 dates at this same arena. Here's the side-by-side comparison of Katy vs Gaga at the same venues/states...

Katy

Uncasville - 6,334/6,554 - $1,704,881 (still suspicious about this gross, it seems far-fetched for one show, even at a casino)

Pittsburgh - 8,577/12,163 - $752,651

Atlanta - 8,782/10,580 - $950,017

New York - 30,743 - $3,620,801 (entire state, 3 arena dates in 2 cities plus a further one in Buffalo got cancelled)

Las Vegas - 12,944/13,947 - $1,230,517

7 shows with 67,380 attendance and a $8,258,867 gross.

Gaga

Uncasville - 15,394/15,394 -  SELL OUT - $1,784,100

Pittsburgh - 15,228/15,228 - SELL OUT - $1,641,888

Atlanta - 12,155/12,155 - SELL OUT - $1,615,820

New York - 69,978 - SELL OUT - $9,520,390 (entire state, 2 stadium dates in 1 city)

Las Vegas - 30,371 - SELL OUT - $4,303,738 (2 arena dates)

7 shows with 143,135 attendance and a $18,865,936 gross.

So, Gaga's pulling in just over double what Katy's doing, both in attendance and gross, at the same areas and states. And sure, she had the SB to help gain interest in the US and without it we don't know what the case may have been. But her lead single didn't even crack top 20, her second peaked at #4, the same as Katy's lead single and John Wayne wasn't even a single. Katy, on the other hand had a much more viewed lead single which also peaked at #4 and despite low sales, has continued to release singles, which has kept interest in her up. She has 26 million subscribers on YouTube and billions of combined views. Her last tour played to just under 2 million people and pulled in $204 million worldwide. SB or not, she should have the upper hand here. When she plays in Europe, that's where we're really going to see the disparity as Katy did so bad in Europe whereas nearly all of Gaga's European dates were sold out. To play to barely 200k people over 40 arena dates when she's a big name is appalling. The money she's losing for her record label must have them panicking. A show like hers is so expensive to put on and transport around the world that to pull in less than 1 million per date is unacceptable. Her ticket prices getting lowered may pull in more people to make the show look better but it sure isn't going to help the tour promoter to have 2 for 1 deals and $10 tickets. Be prepared to see her next tour be a massive downgrade in production values. She'll have literally cost her labels tens of millions after this tour due to unsold tickets, massively cut-priced tickets and 2 cancelled dates (there might be more to come at this rate as well). If she performs at the same level as Witness or worse next time, she'll be lucky if she'll be allowed to tour outside America, Europe and Oceania.

Anyway how did Ed Sheeran do so good?

He's only the most successful male act in the world, currently! Naturally, there's a demand for him to tour. He's doing stadium shows as well, so that really helps with his numbers.

They didn't underestimate. They have the data, but it's clear that Katy's team didn't want it to be made public because it was so embarassingly bad. Labels are allowed to do that, they have no obligation to present the stats if they don't want to. And if a tour underperforms, the stats are rarely made public, only the most packed ones will be mentioned, at best. And that's certainly what's happened in Katy's case. If she can only pull in $28 million from 40 shows in America, her most successful region, then I dread to think how she'll perform internationally where she really flopped this era. This is just the first 40. There's still another 66 shows to be reported on (presuming she keeps all the dates until the end). That means that if she keeps up the same level of sales for the next 66 shows, she should end on a figure of around $76 million. Gaga's already got $85 million from her US leg alone. Factoring in the European dates, she'll make at least $100 million by the end.

Do you know how often I get told this? People do read some of these things, actually. Just because some people like short and sweet posts doesn't mean everyone does. What I wrote needed to be said, no matter how long it took. Whether anyone reads it or not, it's theraputic for me to do this.
