Yeah shape of you really had 0 impact except being the most streamed song of the year what a flop who is he even why is he nominated?? what the heck? Not like radio spammed it up and down the whole year or anything nah... A whole bunch of Song and Record of the year nominees had no "cultural impact"... yet they are nominated...

I need to just learn to stay away from these threads lol there is no point in trying to be reasonable here when it comes to certain people

Commercial success doesn't indicate cultural impact whatsoever. He's not a trendsetter or a pioneer in music at all. A lot of the nominees for Song of The Year did have a cultural impact on society such as 1-800 and Despacito ignited a trend in Latin-inspired pop music for example.

Exactly. All that Ed did was ride the dying wave of tropical house-pop into the ground. He beat the horse to death. Not sure how that is Grammy worthy.

Arturo

Putting aside what he's implying (which is low-key true)...

He has an unhealthy obsession with his success. Yes Divide was successful but I know damn well it didn't meet his expectations of outselling Adele. (look up THAT interview if you think I'm kidding). he sold on par with Kendrick in the U.S lol

Also I don't like how he got nominated for the same 2 GRAMMYs as Gaga and her response was how happy she was (even though we all now she wanted SOTY badly). His response is just "well we ALL know why that happened...here are my stats". It seems like he forgot what he was just 9 years ago. Literally nothing in the industry and now he has the audacity to brush off the achievement of 2 GRAMMY noms? Well...

I... don't get it... ?

He's implying that he didn't get nominated because he's not black and the GRAMMYs were trying to diversify their Big 4 which is true because the GRAMMYs themselves admitted it.

He is so salty that he's listing his achievements, yet he's acting like the bigger person, suggesting that he has to be sacrificed for other artists' recognition.
