OOPS22 4,202
That moment when Gaga said she'd make HML a single. Seriously, it's the best track on BTW. It would have SMASHED in the club. Moo 2,082
It’s a shame she was so overexposed back then... it would have smashed. Maybe if they’d waited a few months after MTN?
Henri Bardot 3,990
The single selection was just ****. Judas (aka BR 2.0) as the second single hmmm.... TEOG third single? More like a second one. Yoü and I. Well it was good for Americans. lmao MTN. After Yoü and I and no one knowing it was actually Lady Gaga singing... gurrll Let's imagine HML was a single. It would've been G.U.Y 2.0 Spoiler more like g.u.y would've been hml 2.0 pooiota

Maybe if they’d waited a few months after MTN? She needed a rest. 3 years of pop culture domination, the GP was already tired of her by MTN And also, HML might be a great song, but by no means is radio material. BTW's singles were actually well picked imo. The problem was the order (TEOG should have been the 2nd, Judas the 3rd).
OBEY 57,109
HML smashed in the club? LOVE the song, a highlight on BTW for sure and in her discography, but radios and clubs would never play that song its not radio friendly at all.
VictoriaWinters 1,999
As much as I love, and we all love, Heavy Metal Lover... I don't see how it's remotely radio or GP friendly. I think it would've done awful as a single. Would've been amazing if she did a Beautiful Dirty Rich/John Wayne deal and given us a video, though. Xoxo, Victoria
Eros92 2,513
It's weird of "FameGa" she looked here.. But I remember this song was sent to radios... I heard it once. I think it was intended to be a single after MTN but they just decided to end the era at that point.

In case y'all didn't know, HML was rumoredly (as in not sure if fake or not) posted as a single by Interscopes on Amazon with this cover: You can read a thread about it on ATRL about it here : https://classic.atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=178637
Sneaky Oliver 22,219
I don’t think it would smash. Same with Scheisse. BTW, TEOG and YAI should be the only singles from BTW. Playing safe! (I love MTN btw)

With a decent radio edit that cuts out a chunk of the spoken intro, it could've been huge. EVERY non-fan I have played this song to has absolutely loved it. It's catchy as hell and sounds like a juggernaut pop anthem. However at the same time it probably would have courted controversy for 'borrowing' the melody to 'Ladies Night' in the verses. I'm surprised Kool and the Gang didn't sue her ass for that. OT: I'm not fussed about HML. It's a good song with a great opening line, but it's got 'album track' written all over it. I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!
