Guest
2020 Oprah and The Rock will run, it'll be the end of politics, of music, of entertainment, of intelligence and we'll enter another alternate reality, scientists will discover that everything has been a dream concocted by a higher power for its own entertainment. Trump didn’t even have support from his own party for a large part of his campaign The way the campaigning works in America makes it unfair in many countries including my own, each party and their candidate gets a specific amount of campaign money to use... no one can raise more from donors and in turn get unfair advantage

Whispering 18,865
Donny Two Scoops spends the majority of his day watching cable news and tweeting bullshit in response. His workday is from 11-4:30... with an hour long lunch break. Trump gives speeches that other people write for him and signs bills that he has no idea what they are about, because he doesn't read them. The country and the government can still function with a complete idiot at the highest office in the land running things because the President can be effectively ignored, even insulated from most major functions of government. The President's true power is in their representation of the country....which comes from the words they say and the policies they champion that have real a substantive effect on society, both at home and abroad. This is where Trump is hurting us the most. His childish tweets, ridiculous retorts and nonsensical and shortsighted (and often racist and xenophobic) policies are tarnishing the reputation of the United States across the world, and creating a more volatile, mean-spirited culture at home. In this sense, Oprah could be the best candidate to follow Trump. She is the true anti-Trump candidate in practically every way. She might not have a strong grasp on policy at this time, but she certainly would have the ability to repair our broken image abroad and begin to heal our deeply wounded culture at home...certainly more than any other Democratic candidate at the moment. She would have to surround herself with a team of people who are experienced in the bureaucratic ways of Washington and the various government departments. Unlike Trump, Oprah wouldn't surround herself with extremists and rejects, but with the best of the best. She would work long hours, work weekends, listen, learn and read. She really is the direct opposite of everything Trump is and stands for.
Rolu 40
Are there actually people that would again vote for a celebrity to be president?! TBH, this is the reason why a lot of people, especially in Europe, think that America is by far one of the dumbest nations on Earth. When Trump announced that he would be running for president, we were all like "they can't be that dumb and elect this guy". But now he's president and to this day, we joke about him/America and won't ever take him seriously. All these announcements from celebrities about potentially running for president are a joke and the people actually supporting them just reinforce the stereotype about how dumb Americans are. Honestly, from an outside perspective, American politics is just ridiculous.
Judicorn 303
Before I share my thoughts on this I would just state that I am not American and that I do not necessarily want Oprah to run for President, but I do not understand some of your criticisms of a potential President Winfrey. A president does not need to have a degree in politics, economics, or law to be effective. Do you think public officials spend their days sitting behind computers researching how to improve their policies? No, they have researchers for that. The President job is to lead the government and the nation, and to make decisions on their behalf. To do that you need to be able to be a good manager, moderator, and leader. You need to be diplomatic and persuasive. Can you imagine a foreign president trying to negotiate a deal with President Oprah? They will be too in awe to try to screw her over lol. America's reputation has gone downhill internationally and who better to improve it that Oprah. America is divided and who better to bring them together? Oprah or another government technocrat?Oprah has all the fundamental qualities needed to be a great president. Also let's not pretend like Oprah's greatest achievement is being a TV star. She is much more. She's a CEO. She's a philanthropist, building schools and houses. She is the richest black woman in the world, all self-made. She broke racial barriers. She brought people together and inspired all of us. And I think that is what Americans want: just a little hope. This is just my 2 cents
