Well, I dont understand the link between the actual song (lyrics) and the music video.

"I have got no service in the club [...]", bich let me tell you that you are actually standing in a fckg jail, dont be so delulu even if you didn't want to get there. And well this is the same thing across all the MV. Why is she trying to poison a guy in a café? Why isn't she in a club at least 1 second? This is nonsense

Maybe I'm really stupid and I didn't get the thing :selena: you can blame me if that's the case.

Can you tell what does the video mean? And why did Gaga choose to do it this way?

Not everyone music video has to relate to the lyrics

I don't know if you're serious or not :ladyhaha: but the telephone video is a continuation of the paparazzi video, where Gaga gets arrested for killing her boyfriend.

The telephone video shows what happened directly after she got arrested. Bey bailed Gaga out of jail. The whole diner scene is basically the consequence of Bey and gaga trying to kill Beys boyfriend. Instead of putting the poison in just his food, she poisons the food of everyone in the diner. Which is why they are on the run at the end.

I mean if you really want to relate it to the song, in telephone gaga and bey are trying to get rid of people who keep on bothering them and interrupting their good time. So they got rid of someone who was ruining their good time :wtfga:

well I knew about this whole paparazzi continuation, but that was not the question. I guess you're last line (in bold) is the answer and I guess this is already an interpretation, and thank you for sharing yours. I think it is relevant but I'm not sure it was Gaga's first idea. I dont know what it is actually but I guess she wanted to make Paparazzi continuation so she took Telephone because it was planned to be a single and did a MV that is not directly related to the lyrics

The video is a social commentary. For me the link is that telephone is a technological invention and the video depicts media world.  Also it has some retro influences (the make-up and the costume) to match the old telephone used in the video.

What a Subway has to do with playing a LoveGame anyway?

And also why being under someone means dancing around in a castle while eating Lego fruits?

And the Alejandro song is supposed to talk about sexual assault, but the video it's all about hunties in high heels. In that case it seems that Gaga is actually being raped by a group of gays and that doesn't make sense either :duck:.

well gurls, art is all about metaphors ... telephone is about the fear of suffocation .. overcommercialisation ( which is why she has that pop art yellow hair --> its a warhol x monroe reference )

product placement, fast food, the american flag, the diner ... those are all symbols of that fear. why is it a fear? because you lose yourself in all this confusion. how are you supposed to navigate through all of this glitz ? how are you supposed to be in touch with who you are as a person? how can you still be in touch with how you feel when almost anything in life is possibly interrupted by ads, tv ... or a telephone call :)

secondly, its a classic TFM video with the classic TFM formula:  female character + love + abuse -- tension buildup -- in the end, sex is juxtaposed with death. (bad romance, telephone, alejandro, G.U.Y. all have the same formula). ultimately, it is a feminist statement about how women should unite in the fight against objectification. the lesbian prison metaphor, the paper gangsta prison yard scene, "cracks in that mother****ers reflection" --> all these scenes show how bada$$ gaga has become ... but instead of being a lone soldier (like men usually are), she decides to support her dear friend beyonce. (she helps her get her out of the toxic relationship she's in)

why the poison? misogynists love to tell the myth of the dangerous woman (a witch) who secretly poisons kings, men, priests, children (kind of similar to antisemitic theme of well-poisoning). Women dont openly show their power like men do; they do it secretly; you never know when it hits you. very paranoid lol. so thats why gaga always poisons her enemies.

eventually, gaga is always loved after she kills someone ... she believes that women will only be taken seriously if they fight for their freedom ... so thats why in paparazzi, the tabloid says "we love her again" -->  she killed the men who were trying to control her (producers? industry?) and redeemed herself to the public bc they primarily connect to women who are in charge (...GUY )

hope that helps!

(btw im super stoned so dont judge me for my writing skills sistren)
