Seriously what happened to NEW ORIGINAL ideas for movies?

??? Just look at the films released each month. Fresh original films heavily outweigh the number of sequels and reboots.

Disney is a business, familiar titles are good for business. These films bring in the money so the studios can continue to release smaller budget original films.

Guys you don't have to watch movies if you don't like remakes. I am beyond excited for this because I loved the first one and Emily is such a good actress. As for "Only Julie Andrews can be blah blah" We've heard that before with The Joker and Heath Ledger did an amazing job. Not all characters have to be attached to the same actor/actress.

Just for information: Pamela Lyndon Travers (Helen Lynwood Goff) wrote eight "Mary Poppins" books and loathed what Disney had done to her creation of the magical nanny. This sequel now will be based on the other novels as well as be inspired of/by the first movie (which still is an instant classic to this day, was nominated for 13 Academy Awards and finally won 4 Oscars) and give some subtle homages or hints and tributes to it (it also will be a completly new written and composed musical, so that's something I guess).

Why is it necessary to rehash this franchise? :triggered:

Can no one come up with an original concept these days :saladga:

For example, why do we need 19384 different Cinderella remakes.

Ugh

cuz there's multiple books that can be adapted :selena:

The number of original films released each week heavily outweighs the number of remakes and reboots. The movie industry is a business, and familiar properties are good for business. Those films make the money so that studios can produce smaller budget original films.

Plus what’s wrong with having multiple versions of something you love? If one version sucks, no harm done, you still have the original.

And if a screenwriter has a creative idea for a sequel to something then why not let them see out their vision? Sometimes it could be something great.

I've never been a fan of these "dark" trailers but I have to admit that it looks good. I do enjoy how Emily looks and I've always loved her voice, hope she translates to singing well. From this, I do want to see more. Also Ben Whishaw is a surpirse, one of my favorite actors.

Check out Into The Woods, she sang in that and was pretty good.

Haroon

That title sounds too sinister/actiony for what it is :rip: Reminds me of 'The Mummy Returns' and 'Batman Returns' :air:

I am excited for this though because the Julie Andrews one was something I grew up with and loved to bits and Emily Blunt is awesome so let's hope they pull it off and do the original justice :excited2:
