I got told that by a user today... Shes good - but that doesn’t matter. Everyone thought Tove Lo and Carly would be icons yet no one buys their albums anymore (even though I think they both have solid releases). Her album is good. I listened today. But not especially original or awe inspiring. Tove Lo and Carly have their rightful places as being more cult-classic, sort of "alt-pop" (eh, go with me) girls. Both making better pop music than the "pop girls" of today, but with less commercial focus or success, which gives them more creative control over their music and careers. Same with like, Charli XCX 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
Red Velvet 10,988
Ariana (really popular, has been one of the greatest young vocalists) Carly Rae Jepsen (EM.OTI.ON, is that enough for you?) Lorde (Melodrama and Pure Heroine is just enough to explain) Camila Cabello (really popular now) I'm like some kind of supernova

hoeslay 4,182
Icons are a different story but in terms of globally iconic: Taylor and Ariana. Maybe Lorde. But A-list pop musicians who have been charting well recently and who have amassed giant fandoms: Halsey, Dua Lipa, Camila Cabello, Alessia Cara. No idea where to place Tove Lo and Charli XCX. Tove Lo has a smaller fandom. Charli is huge on social media and is growing to be critically acclaimed especially with POP2. I thought Carly Rae Jepsen but um....I feel like only the gay community really stans her and most of the world had no idea EMOTION even happened. The thing is the world is really into hip hop right now so if anything the 2010s (moreso late 2010s cuz realistically a lot of the 2000s "pop girls" are more like early 2010s pop girls) are Post Malone, Cardi B, Migos, and a lot of Lil' (insert name)'s. Whether u like them or not they're what's currently more "in" than most pop acts right now.

Balenciaga 42
Ariana and Meghan. Then there are the older leftover pop girls (Katy, Gaga, Rihanna, Bey, etc.) I feel like the GP doesn't care about new female pop girls anymore, with all the trap/rap that's big nowadays. Most of the new girls are mostly just entertaining to the tumblr gays tbh
